yes i had rel subs but they were high level speaker connections and i never noticed gain controls affecting sub output.
Cary Audio SLP-5 Preamp
Received my new preamp on Friday. Cary Audio was having a sale so jumped on it. Wanted this preamp for a long time. So far it has lived up to its reputation. If it is this good, then excited about when it reaches its 100 hours for break in. I had Supratek Cabernet before this and will probably compare it when its fully broken in. It is gorgeous to look at better than Supratek though Supratek also looks beautiful. Now I have an external headphone amp Little Dot MKIII but the one in SLP-5 is no slouch. This is just a preliminary evaluation, but I will keep you guys posted. Very excited.
Congratulations on your new preamp. I remember meeting Dennis Had back in the 1990s when I worked in a shop that sold Cary Audio. He was a very nice guy who was super helpful and knowledgeable. I had a great friend who had him build his amplifiers custom for him. Those were sweet sounding mono blocks. |
I also have the 21+. Did you have subs connected to it? Reason I ask is when reducing gain on it, the lower frequencies don't diminish as much as the other frequencies. Which I like as it gives me an additional way to tune the sound. By example I have the gain set to 1pm for analog, 2pm for CDs and full gain for streaming. Just curious about your experience. |
Congrats on the new preamp @couger4u and nice system! |
