Art Dudley passed away. Rest in Peace

Sad news

Stereophile Magazine reported today that Art Dudley passed away.

" The hi-fi world has lost a giant, and we at Stereophile have lost a brother.

Art Dudley passed peacefully this morning around 4am after a short illness. The cause was metastatic cancer."

Nothing to say

I remember some of the videos with him, he was nice guy ...

If I’m not mistaken Art Dudley went so far as to include an attempt at the photos in the freezer tweak, was it by Fremer? in his review of a couple PWB (Peter Belt) products 5 years ago or so and for that alone he deserves some kind of medal, you know, what with all the potential for angry emails and subscription cancellations.
Sad to hear. One of the originals from way back.  I always enjoyed reading his articles and reviews. I thought about it and didn’t realize i followed his reviews for so long. He help inspire me to take vintage gear serious.
According to Ken Micallef latest tribute video  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=43SkhoVjefc&feature=push-fr&attr_tag=UEa5mQVZgEK6L4kV%3A6

Art only found out that day the video was shot.  Approx.  the first week of March.
He didn’t seem to be sick; his last video published on utube dates back to a month ago.
RIP
Chakster,
Thank you for sharing this news.  I have always enjoyed reading Art Dudley articles.  Curiously enough, most of the time his views and mine differed.  That was OK, though.  He was a philosopher really and he will be missed.

Also my favorite audio writer.  A couple of years ago, Art and I had a nice discussion about selling my dad's collection of 78's (ultimately I offered to give Art the collection for free, but it never quite happened).  I have been a fan since the Listener. He turned me on to lower power, higher efficiency gear, and changed how I think about audio forever.  He will certainly be missed!
Last week I was watching some Herb Reichert/Stereophile videos on YouTube and one of them featured Art at his home in New York. He seemed very likeable to me (even rescued a big turtle out of the road, lol).
I was just thinking this morning about the beautiful countryside shown in the video at and near Art’s home and how I’d like to visit the area some day so it was jarring to see this unwelcome news. Sincere condolences and warmest thoughts to his family and friends.
I’ve enjoyed much of his writing over the years. He was himself and there’s a uniqueness about him. Been reading a lot of his old articles on Garrards and Thorens of late and appreciating him even more. Rest In Peace, Art.
The audio world just became a little bit smaller. I can't say I knew Art but I met him while working several audio shows and he was always the curious gentleman. I enjoyed Art's writing and his outlook on audio and music.

I did not know his age but would have assumed he was in my age range (old) or a little younger.  I did notice he was not writing so much in the past year or more.  I agree he came across as a nice guy with a sense of humor and a thoughtful approach to reviewing.  RIP.

OMG. I too am shocked. He’s been one of the few current pro reviewers whose opinion was of any interest to me. His writing was full of humour and wisdom, and he was just a damned good writer. I anticipate his disappearance from the mag will greatly reduce the quality of it's content. In my estimation he's irreplaceable, though I know Herb Reichert will try his darndest.

He and I to a large extent shared the same taste in music (he loved and played Bluegrass), and the equipment with which to reproduce it (tubes, the Quad ESL, British phono designs). RIP, brother.

I much liked his writing, he seemed still just too young to pass on.
Actually am kind of shocked to learn of it, also leaves me kind of speachless.
Oh, and thanks for sharing those videos... 😟
