Anyone Know Where To Get The 4 Big Can Caps?

Hii everyone from Ariana,

Does anyone know where to get the 4 big can Caps?

67,000 mfd 75 volts I think. I can't tell size though.

Audio Research does not repair this amp anymore.

George Meyer could not find them either.

I could replace them in my own time but can’t find them.

The amp is running fine but I want them replaced.

The volts measure ok but if left off for. more than a week or so it may zap after charging up.

Protect mode blinks for a second

But stays on ok and sounds Great.

Thank You.

Mouser Electronics

No-one makes 67,000uF anymore. 68,000 is the standard value and easy to find. The amp won’t have any problems with this. You may notice the new parts are smaller- that’s normal. Be careful to order the correct diameter...

Yes, diameter is key.  Match the diameter to make installation easier.

You can check Frolyt in Germany, i believe they can make what you want. Otherwise what @atmasphere says.

I don’t think it’s a ARC Classic 60, my guess is a D400MKII.

Due to supply chain shortages, good luck finding those big caps in stock at major electronics suppliers!

Try Hifi collective in-the UK

The int  FedEx is only $28 you-get  it in 3-4 days .

If it's a D400 mkii, I bought one off Ebay and the caps were leaking. Tons of feedback. I sent it to Pyramid Audio in Austin. AR won't touch those anymore (as previously stated). I think the old caps are Philips, but don't quote me on that.

When I spoke to the tech, he mentioned he was warned off even trying to repair it (by other techs) on forums and FB groups.

Luckily, he tried and found some that worked (don't know what they were). They needed to be direct-soldered. This was about a year ago. Give Pyramid a call and see what they say. My amp sounds great now.

Get 68,000uF, 80V.    67,000 is a weird value and you don't need it. I doubt you could get 75V either though some old stock probably. Digikey, Mouser, Arrow, Newark, Avnet. They all deliver next day or close to it.  Don't waste your time with boutique shops. It will cost more and be more hassle than it is worth with no benefit.

You need to measure them and figure out the size first though. You could probably go up to 82,000uF without any problem.

Just did a quick search for you. Pretty nasty stock situation out there now and hefty hefty prices. Good luck.
