I had to dampen my thin and ringing old Lovan Classic stand (which was to hold up a big new turntable).
I didn't care to pour crap of any sort into the poles. So I lined both the insides of the metal shelf bracing, and the vertical poles, with this sticky sided sound damping material:

Whatever I lined with that stuff really stopped ringing.
I also had a bunch of this stuff left over from my trials in sound isolation for my turntable stand:
https://www.amazon.ca/Isolate-Sorbothane-Vibration-Isolation-Square/dp/B0042U92TE/ref=pd_sim_469_4?_...
So I cut up chunks and stuffed it into the hollow poles of my stand. (A lot less messy than pouring any fine grained particles). The result is a very dead sound when rapping anywhere on the treated stand.
