I heard the Treehaus speaker with the rebuilt fieldcoil driver.  It sounded okay, and looked fantastic, but I have heard other speakers with field coil drivers in similar applications that sounded better to me.

Both the V1 and V2 Songers sounded better to me, for example, and are competitively priced.  There are some very expensive field coil systems, such as ones made by Voxativ that sound terrific.  My favorite system employed an ancient Jensen M10 driver and a tweeter in an open baffle bass loading scheme.

I'd rather see the drivers in B&W shaped pods (to avoid any diffraction). Besides that, I've always thought field-coil is the way to go.

Check out the Wolf Von Langa Son speakers.   Great sounding speakers that work in most any sized room.  High quality build and interesting design.

I thought the Treehaus speakers sounded much better last year at CAF than this year. I also very much liked the Wolf Von Langas at CAF as well as the Miyajima field coils.

@jond Last year they were using their best speakers at CAF 2021, the Phantom Of Luxury speakers. This year at CAF 2022, they were using their much cheaper National Treasure Speakers. They were picked as one of the best of show at CAF 2021 Show !

Is this really all you do? Post about the best, most awesome, end of the line speaker? Once a week?

You could save a ton of money with no loss of SQ by hopping a plane to Wichita Falls, TX and listening to the GR Research NX-Oticas or NX-Tremes.  They have open baffle totally figured out.  They only sell them as DIY kits, but they can direct you to people who will build them for you.

I wanted to like the Treehaus system.  The designer has an interesting take on things audio, both speakers and electronics, and I liked the look of his gear.  Unfortunately, each time I heard the system, at the two CAF shows, I was very disappointed with the sound quality.  Just nothing to like IMO.

I think I heard these at the NYC audio show a couple months ago.  I went in thinking these were a bit of a joke but came out thinking they were some of the best speakers I heard that day.  I know nothing about them, but color me very impressed.

@rsf507 I hear ya man, but they do.  I myself prefer narrow speakers for the same reason, but turns out there’s more than one way to skin a cat in audio.
