New Air Suspension Footers for VPI TNT
I went ahead and ordered these new ones. They are back ordered by a few weeks, so it may be a while for me to respond. I think they are actually some type of silicon or other gel substance rather than air, that's what I gathered talking to Harry t...
Subwoofer placement question digagram included
Here are some helpful tips and links:Subwoofer CalibrationMultiple subs I realize you are talking about one, but you may learn some things about placement from this article. The third step is to measure the highest peak in the bass (room mode). Ass...
New Air Suspension Footers for VPI TNT
Thanks. I have not gotten those footers for that very reason of varying air pressure and leaky valves at low pressures. No I might get them.
Load ohm settings for cartridges
Here is a general description I've found helpful. First, though, be sure everything else on the turntable is set up correctly, such as VTA, tracking force, anti-skate (if applicable), and overhang. Then you can test the load. I like to use female ...
Pink Floyd The Wall Remasters
The Harvest import is the best I've heard. I had the MFSL and sold it. I agree that the MFSL is rather disappointing.
Two subwoofers in smallish HT room?
Definitely 2 subs. You can place them on opposite ends of the room and get some modes to cancel out. Much easier to get 2 working well as opposed to 1, particularly in a small room. Make sure they are the same sub.
Good In-Ceiling Speakers??
Triad Silver or monitor are pretty incredible. I'm not a fan of in wall or in ceiling speakers--but these make a believer even out of me.The other interesting speaker that I've auditioned but never had in a home theater is the BG (Bolenger Grabel)...
Anyone Bi Amping their Martin Logans
Some of the Martin Logan speakers do not have the ability to bi-pass the internal crossover. In that case bi-amping is still a benefit--but not as great as when you can get rid of all those components within the speaker. You definitely want to go ...
Where to start with room treatments?
If you haven't been to our website there is quite a lot of free resouces, including many web articles that can help you. Read as much as you can and experiment with inexpensive items, and then later you can buy the more expensive nicer looking tre...
Anyone Bi Amping their Martin Logans
ABSOLUTELY!! I have a pair of highly modified Monoliths. Bryston active crossover, Focal Audiom Bass drivers, Krell KMA 160 monoblocks for the bass and Levinson Ref 20 for the top. I'm considering tubes for the top--which I think may be an improve...
Advice on reasonably priced balanced cables ?
I have 2 suggestions for you. First one is Bryston--not all that different from Mike's suggestion. Bryston is a pro-audio company. Most audiophiles don't even know they make cables, because they don't market them to audiophiles--they're too inexpe...
What's wrong with this system?
I'll second the room acoustics. Here is a resource page on our website. It has lots of books and web articles that can help you. It even has a free room simulator. Your 15 x 15 dimensions are difficult, and you will likely want to experiment with ...
Amps to use with Von Schweikert VR4jr's
I agree with the above. The VR-4jr is an excellent speaker and up to the task of working with just about any amp--it's also very neutral (which helps a lot). I've heard them with $20k worth of integrated tube, and at first thought that was kind of...
acoustic placement/small bright room
Just got back to this thread. As to the poly fill, it depends on the loft. If it's a really thick quilt and the covering is natural fiber (cotton preferably), then it's probably doing a reasonable job. If it's polyester covering then it's going to...
Final ditch effort to improve my sound. Pls. help
Have you done anything with the room? The room is essentially an extention of the speakers and can account for at least 50% of the sound quality. If you have bad acoustics you can keep throwing money at equipment and it will still never sound good...
