Record cleaning machine advise, want to buy,"HELP"
Good decision to get one. I recommend the VPI 16.5. Not automatic, but I think it's by far the best in your price range. You hardly see them used (you won't see mine on the used market). This is one purchase I thought about a long time--now I kick...
Aesthetic and technological alternatives to IPOD
I own a PJB100 with a 60gig drive. It's great and has worked flawlessly. Unfortunately, it's no longer available. I bought it based on a recommendation from Headroom--these guys do headphones and headphone amps. Great site for road warriors that l...
Spindle oil
I used to use the sewing machine oil. Now I use a teflon "oil" for bicycle components. It's as fine as the sewing machine oil and seems to last forever.

We sell and recommend an electret condensor microphone we import from Germany. It's $250, very flat and accuarate for these types of measurements. What you will need to do with the EAD ovation is plug into one of the stereo analog inputs. Set the O...
audio and photography parallels??
Marco: I know what bit depth is--what I meant was, what bit depth do you need in photography in order to go analog to digital and back to analog and not perceive any difference. In audio, 24 bit (PCM) is probably beyond the noise floor of any A/D ...

It's that simple. Keep in mind line out should got to a pre-amp input. Don't send it to something that's going to get processed--just attenuated.

You have to have line in. Mic in will not work. If you only have mic in you will need an external sound card. There are a few USB based ones that are good. We sell a very high end one by ESI for our professional kit ($300), but there are ones that...
audio and photography parallels??
Marco: I know the scanners are very high res. Even a 35 mm produces 100 megabyte file sizes. It's kind of like doing mastering in the digital domain with 24 bit 384 kHz sample rate. It's much easier to master in the digital domain, both photograph...
audio and photography parallels??
I am a photographer, but not a great one--very amateur actually. However, my father and many colleges including Carl Zapp--on this site and a client of Rives are great photogaphers. (I hope Carl responds to this thread--it's right up his alley) I ...

I agree with Kal. We, and all of our authorized dealers use ETF. We manufacture 2 test kits, a professional one for our dealers, and a standard one for enthusiasts. It has the microphone, pre-amp, cables, software and carry case. This might be the...
Acoustician in Phila/Delaw/S. NewJersey
It depends on what you want to accomplish. If you are looking for a full design (treatment with frequency response, reverberation times, speaker placement, etc), you should look beyond an acoustician and hire an engineering group to do a full desi...
"do it yourself" acoustics
That speaker and your dimensions are the poster child for our PARC. I don't normally post something that strong about our products--but in this case it's just the truth. Ozfly already mentioned it. In the other areas--absorption and diffusion, be ...
Active cross-over recomendations
Marchand is very good--less money and many say better sounding. They don't have the build quality of Bryston (not much does), but they absolutely know how to build a top quality cross-over.
Microphones ?
We import a microphone and matching pre-amp with a calibration file from Germany. This is the same microphone that is used by our dealers in our professional test kit. There are links to all of it's specifications on our software page
