Replace Caps?
Hey @StingrenThat seems rather vague, can you be more specific? Are you trying to maintain an old amp? Best,E
Amps from the 1980's -- What gear holds up sonically? Reliably?
I'm listening to a set up which is essentially a Mytek Brooklyn and two ICEpower modules. It really is quite musical and warm, but there's zero of the tube juiciness, so I can definitely see how that can help.
How to DIY yourself very nice Class D monoblocks
Sorry @Ketchup, I can't imagine the need for bridging those amps, but I do see you increasing your complexity dramatically. I'm not sure what the impedance would be, but you can find it from their data sheets. I'd like to strongly suggest to you t...
Mcintosh 250 Transformer Hum Normal
It very well could be. Worth checking if it's responding to DC on the line. Turn off everything else in the home, via breakers, and see if it goes away. :) Even if it is DC, it's not harmful, and the only negative effects are your level of annoyan...
Kharma Ceramique 1.0 question
That's a rather unfortunate plot though. I wonder why the dip around 100 Hz is there? These always make me a little suspicious.
Is this possible ....
The cat has the correct approach for you. :)
Best return for the money, system upgrade suggestions please.
Room acoustics, if you don't have that done, is your best place to start. Otherwise your DAC. Best,E

Hi @ketchupNot really, but the impedance would drop to 4k. Most solid state pre amps would have no issues with this at all, but some tube may. However, maybe what you really want to do is active biamp? Hypex sells active crossover modules as well....

What are you guys doing to get around the low input impedance of the ASP modules? I think it’s around 7-8K ohms. My preamp’s output impedance is 200 ohms. That's not good, right? Hi @Ketchup,200 should be fine!! It's usually recommended that th...
High resolution digital is dead. The best DAC's killed it.
One was the giving-up of R2R DACs. This decoding scheme, despite it’s (potential) errors in switching, is still the best way to convert D to A. High-end makers have been returning to this since 2011 and the results are very welcome. I won't d...
HagUsb.....
It's not really the drivers you need.If you use Tidal, or JRiver, or whatever, each has to be set to use the output exclusively. Otherwise all bits go through the Windows audio mixer.
HagUsb.....
I think this was not the case with older DAC’s or older versions of Windows. If you have a USB DAC that is more than 8 years old or so you may need it for high resolution playback. The last DAC I saw that was like this was the ARC DAC 8. Windows v...
HagUsb.....
I think Windows 10 finally caught up. Before this, only Linux and OS X had plug and play for USB 2 DACs. In your player, make sure you select "exclusive mode" and if your DAC has a volume control, set the software to maximum volume. I have a Toppi...
web-based audio library that can stream to DLNA?
I use Logitech Media Server, but only because I still have a Squeezebox Touch. Now, I'd probably explore https://volumio.org/Best,E
Focal 1038Be with Bryston?
It's a design principle of Focals to make the bass difficult, and make them seem more discerning of amplifier power. I wouldn't call them lean so much as challenging.
