Headphones? I could use your experience/thoughts.
AKG though they tend to be a little light in the bass ( at all price ranges )
Sloppy, muted bass response on Hegel h190
Use a flashlight or 9V battery to test phase. The woofer should move the same direction for both speakers.
Going linear - The Luxman 507ux
The Luxman has about a week's worth of play time now, unfortunately I've also got a bit of a cold. It's still got great dynamics, and impressive bass, but some of the air, transparency and detail, that cymbal brush sound, seems to have gone away, ...
Preamps with separate L/R volume controls
Correction. I was thinking of the Conrad Johnson Premiere 7A, which "only" had 3 chasis:L, R and one for power.
Vandersteen 7 mark ll or big Kef blades
Let's keep in mind it's your choice how to configure the speakers and your listening position. For traditional TMW layouts (twitter, mid, woofer), the desirable range is usually between the twitter and midirange drivers. You should experiment if y...
Listening Levels for Classical Music / Slightly electronic sound at high levels
I just looked at the specs. I think your amp is probably at the limit. Those speakers are rated for up to 500 Watts, but have a very high sensitivity (96 dB). Your amp is 150 Watts/CH which might be a little small. 250 Watts or more might get you ...
Do posters intend to hurt the feelings of other members?
I think we see a range of behavior on Audiogon not unlike what you'd expect humans to exhibit. It's not that pure a site. From ad hominem attacks to using multiple accounts to discredit a poster (with exactly the same logical fallacies). So.. yes?
Sloppy, muted bass response on Hegel h190
Another question. Is this the first full range speaker you have in the room? If so, that may be the issue. Talk to GIK Acoustics or Michael Green. Best,Erik
Unbalaned to Balanced
Hey, If they are based on the Hypex modules, they are true balanced inputs. :) But there's no benefit to using a balanced cable with a single ended source. Best,E

Ahhh, well based on this review:http://www.hifi-classic.net/review/kef-model-104-2-477.htmlI could see you getting that. Before you go nuts, try the reverse speaker test. Put 1 or both speakers at your listening location, then walk around possible...
Please Help Me Understrand "Phase" Control
The phase switch is the equivalent of swapping the red and black speaker terminals on both speakers at the same time. It's use is controversial, as recordings, preamps, amps and DACs may or may not output in correct phase, and some listeners appea...
Unbalaned to Balanced
Hi Vinyl,No difference. In fact, a lot of amps don't have truly balanced inputs. They ground the (-) pin. It's there for convenience. Lots of pro amps did this, because in a studio balanced cables are the norm. Best,E
Volume level for slightly overpowered amp
Listen. Pay attention to the start of distortion. That's when either the amp or speaker or both are being stressed.
Help - I've Got the Dreaded Transformer Growl....
It's really just two choices. DC blocker or balanced power conditioner. I prefer Furman for all things conditioning, because I knwo their filters so well. Best,E
Help with a suggestion for using audio equipment in extremely humid climate conditions
So this may not have been clear. The OP was talking about SALT WATER.That is particularly corrosive. It doesn't have to rain on the gear to suffer from it. As I've read over the years, it will quickly corrode bare boards. You really want to use on...
