Looking for a 2.1 setup for music and home theater
Personall loathe current Dali. They are bright sounding and bright measuring. They give you extra detail for the first few minutes and then are pretty uncomfortable. I know I am in the minority. Instead of a 2.1, strongly suggest a 2.5 speaker tow...
Looking for a 2.1 setup for music and home theater
I'm using a Mytek Brooklyn with Luxman 507ux. Love the combination. Mike Rose at Excel Audio sells both, but he has 505ux (almost same amp) for $2,500.If you go this way, do not go with Marantz. :-) Best,E

What's this "signal tops chopped off" part?

@folkfreak - Nice!
Bi-amp benefits with active crossover
@ivan_nosniborNo, that's not correct.Consider a speaker with the woofer section (crossover and driver) removed. The amp still produces the complete voltage swing. However, there is very little current flowing at low frequencies. So, power is great...
Going linear - The Luxman 507ux
Hi @andysfThanks for that, that's' what Mike said. I'm a little surprised, I thought my previous amps took a while. Actually I bought them used so not sure how broken in they were, but for sure, turning them off for 24 hours means I have a 2-3 day...
Tweeter Capacitor Upgrade (Coincident PREs)
@cal3713Thanks! Color is what I thought the Audyn TC bypass caps added. :) I haven't noticed better imaging, but now I have a new amp so maybe I should do that experiment again? I need about a total of 13 or 14uF in tweeter caps per speaker, so ar...
Luxman 507uXi vs. Luxman 507uXii
@hoopster FYI, he has the 505s, which as far as I can tell from reading are different only in the type of transformer they use, and less fancy casework. The power, and even the idling power is identical. For $2,500 I'd encourage you to think about...
Which foam acoustic panels should I use for a sound booth?

Speaker Width?
So one principle you are not aware of is avoiding early reflections. You have the speakers too close to the rear wall and the cabinet. The rear wall will make them boomy. The wall and cabinet will mess with the frequency response and imaging. Usua...
Speaker Width?
Oh man. Oh man. So you have Be tweeter speakers, and you have then up against a bare wall and ..... << sigh >> There’s so much here. You space and turn the speakers for the best image. That is, you have the illusion of specific instrum...
Going linear - The Luxman 507ux
I didn't get a chance to listen to the Rogue for very long or with the same speakers. The Rogues were driving Klipsch Fortes.
An encounter and lesson in speaker prices ...
Hi @tarheelneilI meant the speakers were out of phase relatively to left and right.
Going linear - The Luxman 507ux
PS - I can say both that the Luxman sounds better than what I had AND also say I’d have a tough time justifying the full retail price of the jump. Going from ~ $750 to a $6,500 is a big deal for those of us who make a living doing honest work. :D ...

This is a surprise . You’ve been so busy defending class d recently . Did you buy this unheard ? in your own system @maplegrovemusic I still defend Class D!! The class-wide disparaging comments of Class D are not true. We should evaluate each Clas...
