Rogue Integrated Sphinx V2 / or Trio Kenwood KA8100 / or... Denon 4806 AVR for 2 channel
If you can find or afford the Rogue Cronus Magnum, I'd really encourage you to. I just heard it yesterday and it was sublime and powerful.
Going linear - The Luxman 507ux
For the Record, the ICEpower modules I am using are long in the tooth design-wise, so like any other amplifier, just because I am critical doesn't mean you should apply these criticisms to ALL Class D amps. ICEpower, Texas Instrument, Hypex and ot...
Going linear - The Luxman 507ux
OK, so the amp is barely warmed up and I’m hearing some of the usual early onset effects. First, they are not destroying my Class D’s yet. For sure, 95% of the common wisdom about Class D sounds is not evidenced here. My previous comparisons, Clas...
Luxman 507uXi vs. Luxman 507uXii
Hey @hoopsterSorry, I was that guy. :) I've been talking to Mike about those for a while and he set aside the last one for me. I just picked it up. If it helps, he said the opposite. He said the 507ux II was about 95% the same as the original. :) ...
Going linear - The Luxman 507ux
Thanks @stereo5 I'll post more after I've had a chance to really listen. Mike mentioned they take around 100-200 hours to break in. That's a long time! I thought my current amps took a while, but this is even longer.
Super Simple theory on speaker cables
@kosst_amojan You are referring to using a lower driver impedance. When you do that you gain sensitivity at the cost of efficiency. The lower driver impedance causes more current to flow through the coil and act against the magnet. That is unfortu...
Luxman 507uXi vs. Luxman 507uXii
You need Marie Kondo
Stereo pre-amps with dual outs for bi-amping and a subwoofer line out

Nope. Most of the ebay listings for new models are for Japanese voltage, and more than what I just paid. I got a US version from Excel Audio. Sweeeeet price.Unit is in the trunk of my rental right now. 😀
What are the weak points of Pass amps and pre-amps ?
Price. Value.I have repeatedly been told they are very refined amps. Never heard a pair that made me wamt to take out a mortgage for them.
Ticking/popping noises from DAC
Sounds like a bad cap. Time for service.
Super Simple theory on speaker cables
Hi @elizabeth,Yeah, I put that in a different category. Several high end manufacturers have some sort of level setting which DOES show up in simulations as altering the output. I think those circuits are legit, whether dials or resistor changes. W...
Super Simple theory on speaker cables
@Kosst_amojanI did a complete analysis of the speaker in XSim. Gathered acoustical and impedance plots. The only thing that circuit did was lower the impedance. You can remove one cap and resistor section with nearly zero effect to the voltage tra...
DAC measurements explained?
I think the best things that most measurements can tell usu about a DAC is whether the designers and manufacturers paid reasonable attention to detail for the money they are asking. :) In the case of headphone amp / DAC combinations, you can tell ...
DAC measurements explained?
Probably a good place to start is in the Stereophile reviews. Lots of DAC's measured there and free to view. But, just in general, you have 0s and 1s in a CD, or file, or stream. Measuring a DAC measures how closely to an idea reproduction of the ...
