Visit to Excel Audio I can tell you that D'Agostino works very very well with Wilson. Too bad you didn't get to hear it. I did hear it! It was excellent, but not what I was there for.
Arguments devolve on threads to wordsmithing contests I don't know how to answer this. I thought argument was the point of this site?? :D Best,E
Step down transformers detrimental to SQ? Sounds like you bought a Luxman on Ebay. :) Best,E
Best Mods for a Mac-mini used as a Music Server The power supply is a big deal. If you can get a linear supply, do so. Regardless, put it on a separate conditioner outside your main power conditioner. The inexpensive Furman or PS Audio strips work really well, with LiFT and SMP, like this one:h...
Speaker Width? Talk to GIK Acoustics. Great advice, and very very good prices on effective products. :) Also, look at their Art Panels. They'd be a lot better to look at than a bare wall. :)

Mixing XLR/RCA Outputs on Marantz AV-8801 Possible? The RCA/XLR combo has nothing to do with it. It's perfectly fine.Disable any room tuning or EQ or correction circuits first. Best,E
Need power conditioner advice. In reference to Furman/Tice/PS Audio/Richard Gray. If you have any wall warts or digital power supplies, it's worth putting them outside, on another device.

An encounter and lesson in speaker prices ... Some equipment manufacturers preamps and amps are 'out of phase' by design. The easiest way to get them 'into phase' is to reverse the wires at the speaker posts. One such manufacture is Conrad Johnson. I think that several readers are misrea...
Going linear - The Luxman 507ux Hi @pokey77Nope, I heard the 507uxII’s with the Wilsons. He had moved the harbeth out of the way for a previous customer. I don't know how the Wilsons were configured, but I was forced to engage the Luxman's tone controls to get the system balance...
Luxman 507uXi vs. Luxman 507uXii 507 doubles down into 4ohms. 505 doesn't. Good eye! I missed that. Best,E
Speaker Width? You know, IMHO, it's not hte speakers, it's the cabinet. If you could get a simple single-width rack, all your problems get solved.
Speaker Width? Um, honestly, you may be much better off with bookshelf speakers that are horn loaed or use a D'appolito configuration. That way you can put them on the furniture, next to the TV bracket. |
