The Carver Amp Challenge and the 21st Century and it's Failure
the null test works well in an anechoic chamber to match pairs of speakers.... but so few do it....the reason why ? Well first ya need a chamber, and when they don’t null out, ya got to know what to do, and want to do something about it vs just pa...

The Carver Amp Challenge and the 21st Century and it's Failure
@maplegrovemusic Erik - Douglas Schroeder just reviewed a amplifier that does what you are describing . Think it was a Goldnote amp . Something about changing the dampening factor by a switch . Yep, similar idea about Carver's challenge with th...

@spatialking Apologies, I seem to have been very much in error. You were right. I was wrong. Best,E
The Carver Amp Challenge and the 21st Century and it's Failure
Thanks for the clarifications, @almarg I was not aware of the earlier testing with the ML, so my thinking about the current improvements was probably not accurate. I appreciate your detailed and informative corrections! What this keeps tickling me...

If from an LP, you need to invoke a subsonic filter.Otherwise, use a multimeter, and measure the DC output. Should be nearly zero.
Luxman SACD player to VITUS AUDIO polarity mismatch
Here's a simple solution, you can try it just to see if you like it, then decide for something more expensive: https://amzn.to/2EwboOhBest,E
Luxman SACD player to VITUS AUDIO polarity mismatch
This is a little odd. Are you sure? In any event, the standard is for the destination device to have a polarity switch, not the source. Your solutions are: Swap speaker terminals, Get cables and or adapters to do the swap for you. They do exist of...
The Carver Amp Challenge and the 21st Century and it's Failure
PS, you may be a little confused since I think Carver may have used the term "current source" to describe the difference. That  doesn't mean more current. It's a different operating principle than a voltage source.
The Carver Amp Challenge and the 21st Century and it's Failure
It started with a bold claim from Carver stating his amplifier was indistinguishable from a tube unit. His first claim was he could make it indistinguishable. Not that it started there. After that he produced amps such as the M500t. He may have ...
Dac hookup....
If you are an apartment dweller network interference is a big deal. Use an app like Wi Fi Analyzer to ensure your router is on an unused channel.
Going linear - The Luxman 507ux
@dpac996 I guess we wouldn’t be audiophiles if we weren’t complaining about something, remote controls included. Lol True! As for better measurements, how would one extrapolate such results to actual preception of sound, which is different for e...
Is there any equipment that can do this?
Get a processor with DTS's Neo:6 music mode. :)
Going linear - The Luxman 507ux
Non audio pet peeve:  The remote. The Luxman remote is early 1980s, and not in a good way. It's heavy, feels good in the hand, but horribly lacking in ergonomic features. Every button is the same size, kind of in random order, and no backlighting....
Going linear - The Luxman 507ux
The equipment CAN’T change as much as we do unless something is seriously wrong with power grid That's true only if you assume everything that is audible has been measured. Or that the tests have been done to prove or disprove this. I don't assum...
