Whats playing on your system today?

Today I decided to listen to two of my favorite rock guitar heros and one great vocalist. Guitarist' Robin Trower, Ronnie Montrose and vocalist Davey Pattison.

I listened to Trower songs:
Bridge of sighs, Stitch in time, The fool and me, my personal favorite- Too rolling stoned and others.....

Then I pulled out "Gamma".
I listened to: Razor King, Wish I was and Skin and bone and others.....

Davey Pattison hooked has also up with Michael Shenker also. I really enjoyed my day so far. Anybody else heard anything good?

The Who, Who’s Next
The Who is one of my favorite bands, ever! One of their best, IMHO. Every track is a masterpiece. Also one of the very best albumn covers.

N

"My Wife"
" Going to find a fast car put on my lead boots and take a long, long drive. I
may end spending all my money, bit I'll still be alive."

The Who, Who's Next
Tommy Bolin, Teaser
I think the whole albumn is solid. Phil Collins shows up on percussion, Jeff Porcaro,
Jan Hammer are on a couple tracks. Now the CD isn't recorded very well. The albumn which I grew up listening to, is recorded much better.
In the liner notes- special thanks to guess who? Glenn Hughes. Best buddies back in the day.
"Savanna Woman" is excellent. Best recorded track.

John Mayall, Blues Breakers with Eric Clapton; Paul Simon; Classical Piano Selections.
@nutty.

I picked up Private Eyes by Tommy Bolin couple weeks ago on vinyl and very impressed with it. Will be keeping an eye out for more!
uberwaltz,

Glad to hear from another Tommy B. fan. Tommy was taken from us way to soon. I’m feeling a bit of "Vinyl Envy"! I’m certain it will have more punch than the CD.

Deep Purple, Come Taste the Band- featuring Tommy, Glenn Hughes

Billy Cobham’s Stratus- featuring Tommy

Jafant, uberwaltz,
And everyone else on board

Thanks! I Hope your day was blessed.

Nutty
Well now just had to go dig up some more Tommy .B!

Tommy Bolin and friends... Great Gypsy Soul.    Joe Bonamassa, Peter Frampton, Steve Lukather etc.

Via Tidal
The Visitation.... Magnum.

One of my fave local British bands from back in the 80,s and 90,s. Saw them live many times and glad they are still plugging away even now.
One Cold Night... Seether.

Fantastic acoustic live recording whether you like them or not the sq is excellent.
Post removed
Well this week I've kind of run the gamut:
Randy Newman - Faust, Good Old Boys
Gentle Giant - Gentle Giant
Epica - The Classical Conspiracy
Strawbs - Ghosts
Within Temptation - An Acoustic Night at the Theater, Hydra, Black Symphony
Captain Beyond - Sufficiently Breathless
Nox Arcana - Theater of Illusion, Carnival of Lost Souls
Warren Zevon - I'll sleep when I'm dead, Genius: The best of Warren Zevon
Kansas - Masque

Just kind of a jumping around week.  After reading this thread, I'll have to go back and revisit some Procol Harum (although seldom far from my playlist), Cricklewood Green, Rockin' the Fillmore, So What (got them all night laundromat blues...), and I'll have to check out some of the names I haven't heard (or don't remember...) that have been mentioned.
KH
Keith.

With bands like Epica and Within Temptation on your playlists you really should give these a listen

Lacuna Coil and Mostly Autumn.
Both also female vocal semi prog/goth/operatic rock bands.
Take Another Picture.... Quarterflash.

Trivia for the day

The guitarist in my band(back in the day!) took lessons from Quarterflash guitarist.
keithahughes- Welcome!

That's quite a list. I particularly like the Kansas Masque. Anything with Steve Walsh is great. Check his solo, Glossolalia.
Warren Zevon was a nice choice as well.

Lucifers Friend, Mind Exploding

N
Omg....
I completely missed your reference to Strawbs. Takes me right back to when they exploded on the scene in England.

You don't get me I'm part of the union.

Now I just have to dig out Bursting at the Seams on vinyl.
@uberwalz - Definitely, I already listen to, and love, Lacuna Coil - just not this week.  Along with Eyes of Eden, Delain, Apocalyptica, Edenbridge, Tarja, Nightwish, Urn, Octavia Sperati, Theater of Tragedy, Eternal Tears of Sorrow...well you get the idea :-)  Mostly Autumn I'm not familiar with, but I'll check them out for sure.  Strawbs were really great, but they had some duds as well (Afraid I don't share your love of Bursting at The Seams - Now, Grave New World, From The Witchwood, Hero and Heroine, *that's* what I'm talking about!).  Not really a real fan of Sandy Denny's solo stuff, but...
If you haven't listened to Steeley Span you should give them a try.  "Portfolio" is a very good collection to start with.

@nutty - I'll have to check out Lucifers Friend and Mind Exploding.  New ones to me.  I'm also a big fan of Atomic Rooster, Audience, Renaissance, Genesis (think  From Genesis Through Revelation through  And Then There Were Three...),  Steeleye Span, Illusion, King Crimson (Lark's Tongues in Aspic, and Starless and Bible Black are favorites) and I love Dream Theater - all of their albums.  After Masque I think Kansas just kind of went downhill, but the earlier stuff was great! Just like with early Rush (Caress of Steel is really hard to beat), Tull (Aqualung and earlier).  So much good stuff from the 'good old days'.

And I listen to some esoteric stuff as well ;-)

Keith
No bursting at the Seams is not my fave Strawbs album either but I thought was only one I had on vinyl
I was wrong, I found hero and heroine before I came across bursting so that got the playlist late last night.

Dream Theater and Iq make my top lists very often too.
keithahughes,

Dream Theater, I used to listen a lot of DT. I have most of Dream Theater's media on CD. I’ve attended four of their shows, one with Spocks Beard as the opener.

I have an "original unopened" copy of Live Scenes from New York. 3 disc set. The cover shows the Twin Towers and Statue of Liberty engulfed in flames....

From Wiki"..Coincidentally, it was originally released on September 11, 2001, and when it was noticed that the cover artwork depicted the skyline of New York, including the twin towers of the World Trade Center, in flames, it was recalled and re-released a short time later with the Majesty symbol instead.[3] Some copies with the original artwork still exist, and are now rare collector’s items.."

Blood, Sweat and Tears, Greatist Hits
Crosby, Stills and Nash, CSN

Digging through my tape collection today

Back for the Attack..... Dokken.

Very good sq for tape!
Nice Nutty
Unfortunately none of them even remotely close to my location....
uberwaltz

another +vote for Van Halen w/ Sammy Hagar. He (Hagar) took those boys to the next level, something, DLR could not have pulled off.

Happy Listening!
Previously, Supertramp, Crime of the Century on DVD audio. Now, Kansas Masque via redbook CD on the MSB transport.
@jafant

You are so right about DLR, Remember going to see him live in England and the show was quite a let down, not at all what I expected.

Jafant, uberwaltz,

I saw Van Halen with DLR in Cincinnati on the 1984 Tour. Not bad as I recall. But I agree, with Sammy they were on another level.
Also it's been a while since I've listened to Balance. I recall the disc being a tad bright. Now I have different speakers, I'll give it a quick spin.

falconquest,

Good to see Masque getting another nod. Kansas is/was a great band.
Song For America's- "Lonely Street" has got some grit!

N
Christian McBride, Roy Hargrove - Parker’s Mood. Aww man this is good!

Cheers
Nutty

The sq on my tape version of Balance leans the opposite way from bright....lol.
However still a good listen.
uberwaltz

I can relate to your DLR experience - I went to see Dream Theater about 3 years ago, in a great venue with exceptional acoustics.  We had just seen Bonnie Raitt there and she was glorious as usual.  We actually walked out of the DT concert - it was so loud, so incredibly distorted, it was unlistenable.  Vocals were just *barely* audible, and completely indiscernable.  Really disappointing.  I don't know why they felt the need to mix it like that.

Atomic Rooster "In Hearing Of" spinning now, following Uriah Heep's "Demons and Wizards".

BTW - I checked out some Mostly Autumn; Very nice!  Thanks for the info, I'll have to get some of their albums, any suggestions of top picks?
Keith
Glad mostly Autumn works for you.
Imho, top albums are heart full of sky , the ghost moon orchestra.
Oh and any live album.

Uriah Heep.....got a few here to give them a good listen...lol
One of my fave albums would be The Magicians Birthday
