Whats playing on your system today?

Today I decided to listen to two of my favorite rock guitar heros and one great vocalist. Guitarist' Robin Trower, Ronnie Montrose and vocalist Davey Pattison.

I listened to Trower songs:
Bridge of sighs, Stitch in time, The fool and me, my personal favorite- Too rolling stoned and others.....

Then I pulled out "Gamma".
I listened to: Razor King, Wish I was and Skin and bone and others.....

Davey Pattison hooked has also up with Michael Shenker also. I really enjoyed my day so far. Anybody else heard anything good?

reubent,

I agree with you on RP. If I had a different set-up, I'd listen more. I hate to sit in front of my computer to listen.

arcam88,

Appreciate to follow-up!

Got recently my audible treat and spinning following albums at least 4th time:

Depeche Mode "Exciter" on original 2001 UK vinyl
Depeche Mode "Ultra" on original 1999 UK vinyl

They are indeed kings of electronic rock. MEGA POWER
@slaw

I use my little Raspberry Pi music server to stream to my main system. I built a killer little streamer/server for under $200 and it could be done for about $100 if you forego a fancy power supply and case. Heck, if you have a USB DAC, you could build a Raspberry Pi dedicated music streamer/server for under $50 and get really decent sound. Also, the MoOde OS is free and super easy to set up and use. It's incredibly robust. I left it running for a week while I went on vacation. Came home and it was still streaming Radio Paradise via a wifi connection.
One of my recent record show finds. A clean copy of..

The Velvet Underground "VU" !
reubent,

I'm totally clueless on anything digital. I've been laser focused on vinyl playback all of my life. Even my new phono preamp, I had a volume control built into it as I don't use a line stage. My computer is in another room (desktop). Pretty sad, I know.

Thanks for the info.
more record show stuff...warmed up my system with...

Boz Scaggs  "Middle man"

Traffic "S/T", the U.S. version on United Artist pressed at Bell sound.

Hot Tuna  "Double Dose/Live" /demonstration copy. Sounds REAL good!

another record show find... an extremely clean..

Fleetwood Mac "Live"  /1980.

Recorded at various venues from this tour. Amazing how consistent the great sound is here!
"Oh Well". Here it is, live!  Rarely found on their lps. The UK version of "Then Play On" has it.

Eels did a GREAT cover on "Cautionary Tales..."
The Clash, Combat Rock, cassette. Whoa! Now this is what dynamic range is all about!

another record show find...

Vince Gill "The Things That Matter".

Don't dismiss it out-of-hand. Superb..great recording!
......I mean, I'm a ROCK guy, but upon listening to the Vince Gill lp above. WOW!  what a superb artist!!!!!!

I hope I won't be ostracized!!
nutty,

I think you'll have an interest in sides 2&3 of Hot Tuna "Double Dose/Live"!
nutty,

I just realized my prior recommendation of Triumph "Never Surrender", never made it through the AG narcs.

A great lp!
Cracker  "The Golden Age".

An (really) early Classic release. In fact, the only vinyl of Cracker I know of!

radfrad,

I would love to see him. He's not touring anywhere near Cinci. I would love to see him before he retires. He is one of my favorites. Please give us a full report. :^)

@reubent--City to City is a terrific album and IMO the best pop/rock sax solo to make it to the radio.

Janis Joplin "Pearl" 1970/1999 Columbia Legacy RBCD
Miles Davis "Kind of Blue" 1959/1997 Columbia Legacy RBCD
The Band "Music From Big Pink" 1968/2000 Capitol Remaster RBCD

John Coltrane "A Love Supreme" 1964/2010 Impulse/Analogue SACD
@astewart8944 - Yep, City to City is a gem. There are some really strong tracks on this album. Very good, all the way through IMHO.
@reubent Agreed. I picked Rafferty's City to City LP up at a Half Price Books for practically nothing, gave it to one of my kids and then listened to it all weekend booming from his bedroom. It was sweet!
@astewart8944 - I just picked up my copy of "City to City" at my local record store - Everybody's Records last weekend for $3.99 and its a really clean, solid NM with an NM cover. What a steal!

I've found some great stuff for great prices at Half Price Books. I just wish they were organized better. At my local store they do not separate new and used and they do not alphabetize them or categorize them. You have to look through the whole section every time. But it's still worth it to go there......
@reubent Great Deal! Clearly Half Price Books has a chain-wide manual on how to make the chase difficult. But, I'm with you...in there hunting for gold that other people don't value. Makes my head hurt that the current music buying model is to pay $1.29 for one digital song download when a kid (or an adult) can own the whole record, whether CD or LP, in many cases for 20-60 cents a song, and sometimes less. Of course, there is the problem of the newest music model where the buyer never owns any music but simply listens to it via a subscription of some kind.
John Coltrane "Blue Train" 1958/1985 Blue Note RBCD
Miles Davis "Milestones" 1958/2012 MoFi SACD Mono
David Bowie "Hunky Dory 2015 Remaster" 1971/2015 Parlophone RBCD
Otis Redding "The Dock of the Bay Remaster" 1968/1991 ATCO RBCD
Charles Mingus "Mingus Ah Um" 1959/1998 Columbia/Legacy RBCD
This Mingus Ah Um album is magic! The arrangements are varied, musical and memorable. If you haven't heard this album because jazz is not your thing, it's a good bet you'll enjoy the record.
Started out with Jimmy Witherspoon then The New York Dolls First album then some Nick Waterhouses New album finished up with some Them Again, great night.

Another record show purchase...

Tommy Bolin "Private Eyes".  This lp has quite a bit of sub 35H bass info and comes across very clean and musical. I could only imagine an audiophile label getting a hold of the masters if they're available. It would move the foundation!

Anyone have other TB recommendations?
