Whats on your turntable tonight?

For me its the first or very early LP's of:
Allman Brothers - "Allman Joys" "Idyllwild South"
Santana - "Santana" 200 g reissue
Emerson Lake and Palmer - "Emerson Lake and Palmer"
and,
Beethoven - "Piano Concerto No. 4 in G Major" Rudolph Serkin/Ozawa/BSO
slipknot1

Ahmad Jamal - Marseille. Jazz Village 2LP gatefold 2017. European release

Miles & Monk at Newport.

The Miles Davis Sextet featuring John Coltrane and Cannonball Adderly

The Thelonius Monk Quartet and Pee Wee Russell

Columbia reissue 1980’s, originally 1964

billy stewart - remembered

most of his best chess sides on this comp from the early 70s...essential record imho

Modern Jazz Quartet - Live At The Lighthouse. Mobile Fidelity reissue/remaster 1984, originally A&M 1967

@bkeske "river people" on that weather report album...that is a desert island tune in my world. killer!!

Mendelssohn-Symphony No.4(MS 6050 6 Eye) Side 1 SQ Audiophile

Jimi Hendrix-The Essential Vol.2 Side 2

Steve Lawrence/Eydie Gorme-Two On The Aisle Side 1 SQ Audiophile

Renaissance-Novella Side A

Steely Dan-The Royal Scam(ABC pressing) Side B SQ Audiophile

Albert Collins-Ice Pickin' Side A SQ Audiophile

Joanne Brackeen-Aft Side B SQ Audiophile

Jennifer Warnes-ST Side 1

5/8 recordings reached Audiophile SQ level. The irony is Ms.Warnes fell short despite Bernie Grundman(maybe a poor pressing?) The SQ winner is the King/Queen of the dollar bins! Maybe these United Artists/Ultra Audio releases are worth looking for?

Finally got around to washing out that bit of dust/crackle from the volume pot on my ADCOM GFP-565 so, after reassembly I played David Bowie’s “Station to Station,” a recent acquisition and perennial favorite going back to high school days (1976?).

Ace / Time For Another
1975 Anchor

In the mood for some easy listening pop, going with Paul Carrack and Ace. Five-A-Side was probably their most successful (“How Long”), but I like this album best. Nice SQ on these LPs.

Ace / No Strings
1977 Anchor

After releasing Ace’s third and last album, Paul Carrack moved on to Mike + The Mechanics and a solo career.

von Karajan conducts Sibelius - Symphonie Nr. 5 Op. 82 • Tapiola Op. 112. Berliner Philharmoniker. Deutsche Grammophon 1965. German release

Procol harum's first two albums and Atlanta Rhythm Section live just picked them up they've never been played

listened to a pair of new reissues as well - malachi thompson, "the seventh son" and billy harper quintet live at antibes ’75. before the repress the former was very hard to find in decent shape, a kind of soul jazz odyssey for smokers, and the latter was unreleased - put out by Sam, a label that’s got to be on the radar of every jazz head who’s into great sound quality (they also did the amazing nathan davis/george avanitas live in paris release from last year)

Sir Charles Mackerras Conducts:

  • Voříšek - Sinfonia In D
  • Dvořák - Czech Suite, Op. 39

John Lennon / Mind Games

Dire Straits / S-T

Outstanding debut album, fabulous SQ. “Sultans Of Swing”, yeah, sure, great song but “Six Blade Knife”, whoa!

@sbank +1 Gary Karr Albinoni. I heard this played in the Acora granite speakers room at Axpona a few years back with Jeff from High Water Sound. Simply magnificent to these ears.

Szell conducts Schubert - Symphony No. 9 In C Major, "Great". The Cleveland Orchestra. CBS Great Performances reissue 1981. Originally Epic 1959
