Whats on your turntable tonight?

For me its the first or very early LP's of:
Allman Brothers - "Allman Joys" "Idyllwild South"
Santana - "Santana" 200 g reissue
Emerson Lake and Palmer - "Emerson Lake and Palmer"
and,
Beethoven - "Piano Concerto No. 4 in G Major" Rudolph Serkin/Ozawa/BSO
slipknot1

Paolo Nutini - "Last Night in the Bittersweet"

Just arrived today from the UK after being ordered nearly a month ago.

Last Night:

Loreena McKennitt - An Ancient Muse
The Perth County Conspiracy - Does Not Exist
Laurie Anderson- Home of the Brave
Loreena McKennitt - Troubadours on the Rhine
Aphrodite’s Child - 666
Dead Can Dance - Spirit Chaser

Moby - S/T. I'm questioning why I bought this. The sound quality is pretty good but it's very generic electronic music.

Garbage - S/T. One of my favorite albums. This is the first time I've heard it on vinyl. This is a 45 RPM two disc copy and sounds great so far.

@noromance how's the SQ on First Aid Kit – The Big Black & The Blue (Wichita 2010), think it's worthwhile over the digital?

Just arrived. It's a good one, AAA cut by Ryan K. Smith @ Sterling.
An easy to love, adopted hometown hero. Probably the next statue downtown after Stevie Ray & Willie.

Thanks, @big_greg for the PlaidRoomRecords recommendation. My copy of this was defective and they replaced in like 4 days including shipping. Fantastic unusual album!

Good to hear Spencer! I don't think I've purchased anything defective from them. It's good to hear that they have good customer service when needed.

Midnight Oil / Diesel and Dust
1987 Columbia

Awesome record, ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Midnight Oil / Blue Sky Mining
1990 Columbia

A nice follow-up to Diesel and Dust. My son texted me tonight he was playing some Midnight Oil, great idea Ryan!

Paul Kelly And The Messengers / Gossip
1987 A&M

Standout content and SQ, a great record.

The Divinyls / Desperate
1983 Chrysalis

It’s Australian bands playing tonight, great music, fun stuff!

@bslon Bill, Kasey Chambers would fit nicely, but I haven't seen any of hers on vinyl. No Courtney Barnett?

@sbank Hi Spencer, there’s so many more that I couldn’t get to. The Church was next in the queue but I was nodding off. I don’ t have KC or CB on vinyl.

@sbank and @bslon: The two Kasey Chambers/Shane Nicholson albums are available on LP, on Sugar Hill Records. Good music.

Thanks @bdp24, also a couple LPs at kaseychambers.com
FWIW, it’s Divinyls—no “The”. Spellcheck or late night fog? 🤔

Václav Neumann conducts Martinů - Symphonies No. 3, No. 4, and No. 5. The Czech Philharmonic Orchestra. Supraphon 2LP gatefold 1982. Czechoslovakian release.

A couple of classic jazz records.

Mingus  -  Ah Um   Music On Vinyl issue, and it is quite good.  Very quiet vinyl.

Miles Davis  -  Kind Of Blue   AP/QRP UHQR  33rpm.  AP really did an outstanding job with reinvigorating the UHQR process.  Pricey, but I hope they do a few more.  This copy is #1,177 and I believe they make 1,000 copies per stamper.  Thus, 177th copy from stamper #2.  My only other UHQR is from the original introduction in the early 1980s which was Mobile Fidelity and JVC (JVC had the vinyl formula and pressing process that was the UHQR technology).  I have a pristine copy of 'I Robot' that I bought when it first released.  I wish that I had bought more of those UHQRs.  I believe they made only 8 titles, and that was it.

My mistake, I also have a UHQR of Jimi Hendrix, Are You Experienced.  I hope that AP does some more UHQR issues.

Karel Ančerl conducts

  • Smetana - From Bohemia’s Woods And Fields & Vltava
  • Dvořák - In Nature’s Realm & My Home.

Czech Philharmonic Orchestra
Supraphon 1975, Czechoslovakian release

Frank Zappa - Jazz from Hell ( not what you expect)

And

Daniel Lanois - Acadie

And

Daniel Lanois - Omni Series

Kenny Burrell with Coleman Hawkins  -  Bluesey Burrell   I have played this a few times as of late.  It's really a great album.

Steely Dan  -  Two Against Nature   Got this last week, second time playing it.  AP/QRP new issue.  Makes the most out of your analog front end.  And excellent Dan music, too.

Iron Butterfly  -  In-A-Gadda Da-Vida   Got this last year, the MoFi reissue.  Lots of fun.  Brings back memories from 8th grade.  I saw these guys during my high school years, and really close to the stage.  Good memories.

King Crimson - In the Court of the Crimson King. 50th Anniversary Steven Wilson remaster.

Dire Straits Brothers in Arms. Excellent recording as well as great music. The vinyl far exceeds my Apple lossless digital even with an Ortofon red.

Paolo Nutini - "Last Night in the Bittersweet" again...

To anyone who says there is no good music being produced today, I say "you are sadly mistaken"...

@scottiet  - Welcome to AudiogoN and to the best, and most popular thread on AudiogoN. Keep 'em coming....

10cc / Deceptive Bends

Fun lyrics, good SQ, great final cut with “Feel The Benefit.”

Traffic / John Barleycorn Must Die
1970 United Artists

I may be wrong but I think the saying is “All Killer, No Filler”.

Pablo Cruise / S-T
1975 A&M

Lovely SQ, another nice final cut here with “Ocean Breeze”.
