Forgot how much I enjoyed this record.

"J. J. In Person!" The J. J. Johnson Quintet. A nice-sounding Columbia six-eye that I picked up for next to nothing.

They might overuse their formula. Regardless, they execute it very well. And, dynamic range!

Gavin Harrison excellent as always.

@chester_bunger +1 Saw them this week in Portland.  Great show.  Gavin was most excellent and an inspiration.

Re: Terry Allen

I really like Bloodlines. I think this theme album has brilliant lyrics and Terry’s vocals are great. He reminds me of a mix of Leon Russell and Steve Earle. Unfortunately, my copy is very noisy.

Smokin the Dummy is a great lp as well. Lot of Leon’s influence here again IMO. A lot more country leaning on side one though it has the New Orleans jazz influence on side two.

Deep cleaned the Caroline Spence lp.

Sounds much quieter but not quiet enough to avoid returning.
