Whats on your turntable tonight?

For me its the first or very early LP's of:
Allman Brothers - "Allman Joys" "Idyllwild South"
Santana - "Santana" 200 g reissue
Emerson Lake and Palmer - "Emerson Lake and Palmer"
and,
Beethoven - "Piano Concerto No. 4 in G Major" Rudolph Serkin/Ozawa/BSO

Seals & Crofts-Greatest Hits Side 2 SQ Audiophile

Eydie Gormet-Don't Go To Strangers(CS 9276) Side 2

Harrison/Blanchard-Black Pearl Side 1

Don McLean-ST Side 2 SQ Audiophile

Europe-Out Of This World Side 1

Men At Work-Business As Usual Side 1

Elton John-Breaking Hearts Side 2

Angela Bofill-Too Tough Side 1

A very good SQ night! The six other recordings are near Audiophile status. Men at Work had a tight direct unforced(laid back) transparent sound. I thought it was a little to thin sounding and lacking presence/dynamics)to give it Audiophile status. My copy was VG. As many know S/C Greatest is well known for having Audiophile SQ which proved SQ champ tonight.

@dayglow

I have "Diamond Girl". One of the albums I've owned the longest. Enjoy it now and then. Brings me back to a certain time with good memories.

Nice record Steve!

Rolling Stones / Dirty Work
1986 Rolling Stones Records

@bslon I likes me some Shabooh Shoobah

Bert Jansch / L.A. Turnaround

1974 Charisma

on a side note, a gratuitous shoutout to Aleks Tammeorg at Degritter.  When the above mentioned album arrived from Holland and was being cleaned, I discovered that the water tank on my Degritter cracked.  It had sat unused for perhaps three weeks and I was changing the water out when I noticed.  It has been sitting on a table unmoved for perhaps three months. I sent an email and had a reply from Aleks the next morning with an offer to send a replacement. It arrived in about a week. I’m an even bigger fan now.

carry on

Pink Floyd "Obscured By Clouds"

2016/ Sony

Never enjoyed this album more

@spiritofradio Thanks, the Koyaanisqatsi is an oldie but goodie. A personal favourite sound track of mine, from my "Art House Movie" days.

Last night...

Jade Warrior- Floating World (a favourite lately)
Nik Bartsch - Entendre
Magma - Udu Wudu
Enigma - The Fall of a Rebel Angel

Well, I stand corrected. Put on side one of my pp/UK/Harvest and it sounds somewhat warmer, more like it's from that era.

John Illsley "Coming Up for Air"

2019/Creek Touring & Records LLP/EU

Listen to "Wild One" and get ready for some foot tappin'.

Silver Jews "The Natural Bridge"

1996/Drag City

It's a good day when I can listen to David Berman......RIP.

Steve, I finally got around to listening to Israel Nash “Rain Plans”, nice. Thanks!

Lou Reed & Kris Kristofferson "The Bottom Line"

2021/Bottom Line Archive

This is my first RSD title. I thought it was too cool to pass up.

@boxer12

Dan, +1 for "Bufo Alvarius"!

Hi Tim, thanks!  I'm slowly filling out the Bardo Pond collection.  I'm still running the RSD 2022 acquisitions through the Degritter.  I'll have more of them tonight.

d.

@boxer12 +1 on Camel Tim.  I just got the 2013 re-recording, slightly rearranged in places, of Snow Goose that Latimer did with his new friends.  An interesting artifact.

Mozart Complete String Quintets (Too difficult to spell the name of the Quintet performing) 1971 Telefunken (5 LP0 Box) Germany.  A very nice set.  The Quintets with the horns added are particular favorites.  I’m on the third of five discs making for a long lovely listen on a rainy day here.

+2 Camel

I’m late to understanding them and enjoying. I have acquired a few recently.

,.....seems to be a solidity to the imaging with monos that is noticeable

I agree Steve.  I don’t have a mono cart but mono records do have their own appeal.  I think they sound really good through my corner horns.

I was referring to mono amps but I do agree with you on mono recordings James.

oh, i’m the disco king.  of course you meant your mono-block tube amps.

Did someone mention Dave Holland here recently (or was it on another thread)?   Man this is a great record.
