+1 Neil Young, Live At Massey Hall 1971.
I've played it a couple of times and see it's worth a few hundred bucks now.
Hiroshima-Odori Side 2 George Muribus-Trio ’77 Side A SQ Audiophile Joanne Bracken-AFT(promo) Side A SQ Audiophile Carmen McRae-Live At Sugar Hill(Time Records S/2104) Side 1 SQ Audiophile Greg Lake-ST Side 1 Cat Stevens-Teaser And The Firecat Side 1 SQ Audiophile Willie Nelson & Ray Price-San Antonio Rose Side 1 SQ* Neil Diamond-Hot August Night Side 3 SQ Audiophile Was not intended to be a vinyl night but due to system tweaking the playlist just followed. SQ* Willie/Ray has borderline Audiophile SQ. It’s a great pure country recording. Tough to claim a SQ winner Bracken/McRae/Diamond let’s make it easy... a 3 way tie. if unfamiliar with Greg Lake’s 1st solo album give it a listen. |
@spiritofradio it’s fantastic. I also have the Mofi UD1S and a super clean OG pressing. Comparing them now. Mofi is “punchier” I would say, slightly more dynamic/hotter. The erc is unbelievably quiet (as is the erc Walkin I have) and I would say it’s better than the OG mono by a significant margin sonically. Just a touch more analog sounding than the UD1S. More testing required-but that is ok with me :) I am well aware that the erc releases are polarizing, even controversial. My wife and I have been together 31 years. She allows me my often extravagant hobby because as she tells friends and family, “he doesn’t golf, drink, smoke, gamble, or chase women.” Indulging in expensive hifi and vinyl is a minor character flaw in the grand scheme of things. And besides, it makes me happy.

@j_husker That’s funny. Hey, I don’t think you need to apologize for having that record - what a treasure. You’re lucky to have it. Thanks for the report too. I have that Mofi. It’s reserved for when I’ve been exceptionally good, which honestly doesn’t happen very often since I have every one of the vices you listed…. |
Update-Started posting here on 4/14/20 with the (brilliant?) idea of playing my entire vinyl collection. This idea emerged from the myth that Audiophiles play the same 100 or so albums yet have vinyl collections in the thousands. This thread proves to some extent that's a fallacy. Since I started posting on this thread I have added about 250 vinyl albums bringing my total collection around 1800. From my estimated calculations I have played 1250 album sides with only about a 5% repeat rate. My Audiophile SQ recordings are >25% which is mainly due to Jazz/Vocals and Classical, no where near my desired 40%. Tonight I will start on my next 600! |
So @dayglow , I can only assume we've been a very good influence. |
@slaw An emphatic yes! |
@spiritofradio Thx for the kind words. |
A gift from @sbank arrived today. Thank you sir 🙂 |
Your reviews are both inspirational and helpful. I can't thank you enough. Enjoy the music and your entire vinyl collection. Some '80s today... The FIX - Reach The Beach A very respectable recording and rather quiet vinyl. Tears For Fears - Songs From The Big Chair Great album of '80s music, as is the album listed above. A good recording and pressing, too. |

Dionne Warwick-Very Dionne Side A Jefferson Airplane-The Worst Of... Side 1 Marcus Roberts-Deep In The Shed Side 2 SQ Audiophile Carly Simon-Boys In The Trees Side 1 Patti Austin-The Real Me Side 2 SQ Audiophile The Beatles-Revolver(early or original mono) Side 1 Preston Reed-Playing By Ear(FF 324) Side 1 SQ Audiophile Janis Siegel & Fred Hersch-Short Stories Side 1 Thx for all the positive comments. Preston Reed takes the SQ trophy. Could compare him to Michael Hedges but with a country edge. Siegel/Simon just missed Audiophile status, both with great content. Very Dionne is a solid Warwick album with an excellent version of "Yesterday". |
John Lennon / Walls And Bridges @boxer12 That Rilo is a great record! |
Good to see you again, @ticat |
@bkeske Congratulations to you too Brian. Bill Evans - Inner Spirit: The 1979 Concert At The Teatro General San Martín, Buenos Aires • 2022 RSD • Resonance Records |
