Whats on your turntable tonight?

For me its the first or very early LP's of:
Allman Brothers - "Allman Joys" "Idyllwild South"
Santana - "Santana" 200 g reissue
Emerson Lake and Palmer - "Emerson Lake and Palmer"
and,
Beethoven - "Piano Concerto No. 4 in G Major" Rudolph Serkin/Ozawa/BSO
slipknot1

Canned Heat – Living The Blues (United Artists 1971)

love this double album.

Bill Withers - His Ultimate Collection. Yellow vinyl. A little noisy, but those songs...

Black Sabbath – Paranoid (NEMS 1976)

Herself is out. Pool table and loud music using cue air guitar.

Uriah Heep – Uriah Heep Live (Bronze 1973)

Couldn't do these without subs!

Lady Blackbird – Black Acid Soul (Foundation Music 2121 RE 2022)

Sweet, laid back jazz covers. Very smooth recording. Not bright. Quiet vinyl. Slight warp doesn’t affect play (how can they not get this right?) Tentatively recommended.

Sir John Barbirolli conducts Vaughan Williams - A London Symphony. Hallé Orchestra. Angel late 60’s release.

Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young – 4 Way Street (Atlantic 1971)

Fantastic album. Wonderful you-are-there live analog recording.

...

Jim, this album ^ is why Ladybird is tentative. It’s nice but it doesn’t have greatness for the following reasons: covers not originals. Lacks open, detailed sound. Methodological musicianship.

Karajan conducts Strauss - Tod Und Verklärung Op. 24 & Vier Letzte Lieder. Berliner Philharmoniker w/Gundula Janowitz, soprano. Deutsche Grammophon 1974 German release

@noromance   I just love the pool que air guitar.  I can see it now...

No hi-fi today.  However, that will be a reality tomorrow.

You guys are just great and make my day.

@mammothguy54 I was afraid the headbanging would bring on an aneurysm! The subs earner their keep. All good. System was singing tonight for sure.

Pink Floyd / Dark Side Of The Moon
30th Anniversary EMI remaster (2003 Holland) orig. 1973

On headphones, fabulously done reissue, loving the high end!

Pink Floyd / Wish You Were Here
2016 Sony ReIssue orig. 1975 Columbia

Another well done reissue. Vocals on Have A Cigar by Roy Harper. These two PF records on my headphone system are a real trip, wow!

Brian, maybe i just have a crush on her and am hearing differences, @whart what do you think about the sonics on Black Acid Soul…

plenty of detail on the Treo, massive deep soundstage, piano is twenty feet back and retains drive, extension, shimmer….

or is it as Mick sang.

” just my imagination, running away with me “….. ha.

@bslon cool on Dark Side, my music producer buddy is doing the album live in entirety, sold out, laser light show included, wishing i could make it…..

Arrived today,

The Yardbirds  Feat. performances by Jeff Beck Eric Clapton Jimmy Page,

pp/CBS/three sides are 1A

Golden Smog "Weird Tales" (20th Anniversary/2018/Ryko)

Rod Stewart "Gasoline Alley"  (pp/Mercury)

Steel Dan (12"/4 song EP/45rpm/1977 Anchor/ABC/UK

@tomic601 Jim, it's not that it doesn't have merit in its own right, it's just that when I put on the CSNY live album, I realized how much better it sounded compared to the darker BAS album. I do have a thing about smooth verses detailed and these albums seem to epitomize that.

The Chet Baker Quintet-Chet Baker And His Quintet With Bobby Jaspar 2021    Sam Records RE

Edwin Starr-Hell Up In Harlem Side 1

Art Farmer-To Duke With Love Side 2 SQ*

Molly Hatchet-Double Trouble Live Side 4

Sammy Davis JR.-Now Side 1 SQ*

Greta Van Fleet-Anthem Of The Peaceful Army Side 2

Flip Phillips/Scott Hamilton-A Sound Investment(CJ-334) Side 2 SQ Audiophile

An abbreviated vinyl night? Always play 8 sides but due to answering a phone call... Everything sounded above average with the exception of Edwin Starr. Might be an original pressing which is disappointing since the content is top level R&B. SQ* Art and Sammy just missed Audiophile status maybe on another night?

Great Emitt Rhodes album, @bslon! Emitt wrote, played, and sang every note on his debut, a perfect album.

I was in the band hand-picked to back Emitt when in 1997 he played his first live show in a quarter century. We performed only six songs, including "Live Till You Die" off the debut. I suggested "Fresh As A Daisy" (a glorious Pop masterpiece of a song, easily the equal of anything by Lennon & McCartney, approaching Brian Wilson quality), but Emitt felt it didn't fit the set.

@bdp24 I agree on your perfect album comment, there isn’t a bad song on it. I also agree with your comparison of him to McCartney, especially regarding this recording. Very cool you performed with him, what an experience!
Playing his record after Leonard Cohen’s was like a breath of fresh air!

I too have the Emitt Rhodes album, having purchased it when it first released.  I don't know anyone who even heard of him other than from this group of music lovers.  Very cool that bdp24 played with Emitt, live on stage.  Good for you!

Manfred Mann  -  The Roaring Silence   I sure wish it was done in audiophile SQ.  But still, very good, nonetheless.

Procol Harum  -  Broken Barricades   I just love this album.

Today I listened to...

Manfred Mann  -  Watch   This album has a better SQ than my copy of Roaring Silence.  Both are excellent music.

Frank Zappa  -  Over-Nite Sensation   I bought this new in 1973 and it is still in perfect condition.  Great music and a great recording.  Love it!

Ben Webster meets Oscar Petersson   Analogue Productions 45rpm reissue Verve Records.  It's really amazing the sonics they accomplished in the recording studio, way back in the early 60s.

+1  @mammothguy54  "Watch" is my favorite Manfred Mann recording. "California" is perfection!!!
