Whats on your turntable tonight?

For me its the first or very early LP's of:
Allman Brothers - "Allman Joys" "Idyllwild South"
Santana - "Santana" 200 g reissue
Emerson Lake and Palmer - "Emerson Lake and Palmer"
and,
Beethoven - "Piano Concerto No. 4 in G Major" Rudolph Serkin/Ozawa/BSO

Polly Bergen – The Party’s Over (Columbia 1957 mono)

If only modern recordings sounded like this. Devoid of digital hash and complex circuit noise.

Peggy Lee-Bewitching-Lee! Side 2

Kiss Alive II-Side 2

Count Basie-Bassie Picks The Winners Side A SQ Audiophile

Maggie Rogers-Heard It In A Past Life Side B

The Richie Kamuca Quartet-Richie(CJ-41) Side 1 SQ Audiophile

Milt Jackson-Born Free Side 2

Poison-(banned cover)Open Up And Say... Ahh! Side 2

Ramsey Lewis-Wade In The Water Side 1

Played 4 more of my M- thrift store finds Peggy/Basie/Milt and Ramsey Lewis all were stereo versions with very solid sound. Basie was awarded Audiophile SQ due to very good dynamics. Enjoyed the "Glam Metal" of Kiss and Poison despite many well educated distractors. Another Concord Jazz takes the SQ crown and another recent recording Maggie Rogers(2019) takes last place.

after all those years of obscure stuff not ever mentioned in here EVER, I finally played half-speed Breezin’ of George Benson.

I feel it’s the real way to listen to this pretty popular record. I couldn’t resist buying it at thrift store, otherwise I would less-likely have it.

Just finished listening to War of the Worlds - Half-Speed Master recording all the way through (2 LPs)...

Even with subpar quality power Ms. Ronstadt still delivered winning Audiophile SQ tonight. SQ* very close to Audiophile level. Played Alice’s Restauarant tonight due to it being an AOR radio Thanksgiving staple when I was a kid.

New copy came in the mail today (thanks USPS) to replace my old copy which has a nasty warp. Thankfully the new (used) copy is much flatter.

I haven't really put much thought into this, but this might be my favorite '80's New Wave album. Don't hold me to it, might change tomorrow...

A few days ago, I bought a used copy of "Top Drawer" by Mel Tormé and George Shearing. Wow, what an amazing intersection of great singing, musicianship and superb recording. It didn't hurt that I had just purchased a new-to-me, used Vincent PHO 701 stage. Maybe it was confirmation bias, and I wanted that (and other) LPs to sound better, but "Top Drawer" is just great.

drivin n cryin, "fly me courageous"--kevn kinney's a folkie at heart, and i never fully bought into his hard rock moves, but this is one of the best-ever air guitar records nonetheless

greg sage, "straight ahead" subdued psych-folk from the ex-wipers guy. very tuneful and oddly hypnotic--these songs have stuck in my head 30+ years after first hearing them.
