Whats on your turntable tonight?

For me its the first or very early LP's of:
Allman Brothers - "Allman Joys" "Idyllwild South"
Santana - "Santana" 200 g reissue
Emerson Lake and Palmer - "Emerson Lake and Palmer"
and,
Beethoven - "Piano Concerto No. 4 in G Major" Rudolph Serkin/Ozawa/BSO
slipknot1

Luna - Bewitched. Gotta Groove Records reissue/repress 2021, originally Elektra 1993

Steve,

Thanks for sharing your experience with PPT & the wall outlets. I will give that a try

Puffball,

I can’t compare the Pere Ubu FIRE releases to the originals (I don’t own the originals), but I have a number of the FIRE reissues & have not been disappointed at all with SQ.

Kiln / Astral welder

Got time for one more....

The Guess Who "Live At The Paramount" RCA 1972 (recorded 22 May 1972 in Seattle)

One of those god awful Dynaflex discs that have built in warp no matter how carefully they’re stored and totally don’t match the VTA of the cartridge because they are so thin.

But hey, Runnin’ Back to Saskatoon still sounds great.

@boxer12 thanks Tim.  Maybe I'll get one and compare with the original.

Agreed. Thanks for reassuring me about the Fire reissues Tim. The glass breaking in Sentimental Journey on Modern Dance is incredible. As example.

Not sure whatever happened to some of my Ubu originals, so cannot compare today, but Fire has done a nice job with these reissues regardless.

Eno - Another Green World. Island reissue, unsure date, probably 1978/79. Originally 1975.

Did a lot of work in the listening room today, and got to spin quite a bit of vinyl:

Floyd-Momentary Lapse 2021 45rpm RE

Miles-Round About Midnight 2021 Speakers Corner

The Band-The Band 2015 RE

Coleman Hawkins-And Confreres 2012 45rpm AP

Mounted the Opus3 on the Linn to see how that pairs with the new MA352. The low freq are so much better with that cart than the vm740 I have been listening to, but it gives up just a scoche in detail.

Kiln / Twinewheel

This band is a weird mix of Funk, Psychedelic, & Electronica, all mixed into one. Love it

caught some live music today, reflecting shell / building..outdoor seating..

Evansong - Dene Davidson Quintet

ah man....lightly amplified  but oh so tasty...

Colter Wall - Songs of the Plains - this is a reference album to me, incredibly well recorded and just another great one from this young genius

Modern Jazz Quartet - Fontessa - Speakers Corner

Henry Mancini - Pink Panther - Speakers Corner

Willie Nelson - Red Headed Stranger - Impex - this is in my top 3 records in my collection. Excellent beyond belief

Son Volt - Trace

AC/DC - Back in Black - RL pressing

Kenny Burrell - Midnight Blue - AP 45rpm

@tomic601 ha, yeah, kinda all over the place. Testing out the new Degritter so listening to some vintage vinyl and new stuff

Forgot

Kraftwerk - Trans Europe Express - it fits right in!

Laurie Anderson - Big Science. I put the recently retipped Zu DL-103 on the Sota, sounding really good.

Brian Eno & David Byrne - My Life In The Bush Of Ghosts. Sire 1981

Have to wonder how much influence this album had in the formation of Dead Can Dance 3 years later

Stevie Ray Vaughan  "The Sky Is Falling"

Stevie Ray Vaughan  "In Step"

Both are Analogue Productions / QRP.  Outstanding!

Joan Armatrading  "Show Some Emotion"  Played this the other day, had to listen to it again.  Just such a wonderful album, and great SQ.

+1 bslon Gerry Rafferty/Night Owl. IMO it is a Top 50 pop/rock recording of the 1970"s. Is it as good as City To City? Yes but I rate City To City a few notches higher due to the pop masterpiece "Baker Street".

@slaw

Jim, your post, made me realize my lack of the RSD lps...

Steve, did the link I sent you arrive too late?

@tomic601

Degritter envy, is it wrong ?

Like a contagion.  You cannot be blamed.

The Caig stuff is good. Many people use alcohol. There is a product call Stabilant that has had several on A'gon recommend it. Available on Amazon.

Kontak cleaner fluid. Purchase from The Cable Company($45). Leaves little to no residue when cleaning cables.

@dayglow I totally agree on those Rafferty albums. Those are both like comfort food to my ears, I usually listen to both sides back to back. I can’t say that for too many records in my collection.

For contact cleaning I use a cleaning cloth supplied from Audioquest.  They have one specifically for silver contacts and one for all other metals (typically, copper or gold).  Zero residue as there is no solution.  I prefer not using a solution.

+1 mammothguy54, and because the gloves are white you can see what crud they took off.

Delfonics?! Sh*t, you ain't said nuthin', I grew up on them. Now, tell me this is a dream.

New arrivals,

Plant/Krauss "Raise the Roof"

The Mountain Goats "Songs for Pierre Chuvin"

                                         "All Eternals Deck"

                                          "All Hail West Texas"

Gary Numan "The Pleasure Principle" Atco 1979

Lydia Lunch "13.13" Ruby 1981

Fishbone "s/t" Columbia 1985

Family "Anyway"  United Artists 1971

Fleetwood Mac "Kiln House" Reprise 1970

Brian Eno "Here Come The Warm Jets" Island UK 1973

Just arrived...

Pere Ubu - Worlds in Collision. Fire reissue 2018, originally 1991

Damn, this sounds incredible
