Emerson Lake and Palmer - "Emerson Lake and Palmer"
and,
Beethoven - "Piano Concerto No. 4 in G Major" Rudolph Serkin/Ozawa/BSO
slipknot1
Tracy Chapman "Matters of the Heart"
1992/Elektra/EU/OP
(if I recall, this lp has really nice bass)
Cracker "Golden Age"
Classic Records

This is one of the first rock lps, Classic Records released, if I recall correctly.

Includes...."Sweet Thistle Pie / Joan Osborne
@bslon, I was just talking about "Phoenix" with my music friend last weekend.
@slaw
I swear I wasn’t eavesdropping! :-)
Lately I’ve been randomly pulling LPs from the rack and I’m glad that one came out, I’d forgotten how much I like it. My copy’s a little noisy, bought new in ‘72. I like the bands back then with the Hammond organ. Argent’s another.
Yeah.....the organ was great!!!!
"Phoenix" has it. I think my favorite GF lp. I own 4 copies.
@spiritofradio James, I like Lorde and Lana Del Rey.  In a little different vein, but I also like Charli XCX.

@noromance Check out Billie's brother Finneas' new release Optimist.  I streamed it recently and it's pretty good.
John Coltrane - A Love Supreme, Live In Seattle

A newly discovered, rare live recording of his masterwork. Amazing sound  considering it was with two mics suspended from the ceiling of The Penthouse club. A thrilling album, to say the least
Bslon,
The Terry Allen album was from discogs. Great album BTW!

Steve,
+1 for the Saddle Creek label. I’ve had good luck with them.
@slaw.. how is that Winwood Live album? I bought one shortly after it was released and got a bad pressing. Skip on side one and filtered sound so I returned it and went with the CD version that was great. Thinking about trying again because I love that album. Thanks.
Pete Christlieb/Warne Marsh "Apogee"

A wild meetup of two tenors going toe-to-toe in this album produced by Becker and Fagen from Steely Dan. One of my desert island disks that never fails to make me smile when I'm feeling down
Peter Gabriel - 1 (Car)

1977 ATCO

Great cast. Tony Levin, Steve Hunter, Dick Wagner, Robert Fripp!

I assumed that you would respond to the Saddle Creek post Tim. I talked with a guy today that says, he knows you.....

Probably meant he's met you....
@tgilb

Love it!! Think of a slice of all famous bands Steve has been in. Then try to hear, those select cuts reammagined live, in a totally new funky/soulful attitude. Even with his radio friendly late eighties stuff. Never hear that anywhere else.
Alois Klíma conducts Prokofiev - Summer Day Suite, Op.65, Prague Chamber Orchestra & A Winter Camp Fire, Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra. Crossroads/Supraphon, unknown release date. Assume late 60’s, as other Crossroad releases.
@slaw thanks for the response. I'm going to give it another try. And yes, great live versions with many much different than the studio cuts.
I'll have to PM you on that one Steve :-)

Wooden Wand & The Vanishing Voice / Buck dharma
From NPR

Renowned Dutch conductor Bernard Haitink died Thursday at age 92. The range of his work gives a glimpse of how much he was admired and beloved both in Europe and the U.S., particularly by orchestras and soloists who hailed him as a musician's musician, prizing the work itself over showboating and glamor.

Over the course of his long career, Haitink served as the chief conductor of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in Amsterdam; music director of The Royal Opera, Covent Garden and Glyndebourne Festival Opera in the U.K.; principal conductor of both the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the London Philharmonic; and principal guest conductor and then conductor emeritus of the Boston Symphony Orchestra.

He made some 450 recordings of orchestral music and opera, ranging from Mozart's Don Giovanni to a complete cycle of Shostakovich's symphonies, as well as complete cycles of the symphonies by Brahms, Bruckner, Mahler and Beethoven (the last twice: once with the Concertgebouw and another with the London Symphony Orchestra).

Lost a good one today, but ran the race well. God speed Bernard
Tim,

Got any Azure Ray? Or, Orenda Fink or Maria Taylor? All on Saddle Creek.
Rozhdestvensky conducts Prokofiev - The Stone Flower. Bolshoi Theatre Orchestra. Мелодия/Angel 1968
Guess Who - American Women

1970 RCA

I thought Burton Cummings had one of the great voices of the time.
yes Godspeed Bernard. Was listening to some of his Mahler work a bit back, emotive…. RIP
@tomic601

The track 'Tenors of the Time' makes me think of thoroughbreds racing!
Steve,
I do have "Azure Ray", but not the others mentioned.

"Tim, OMG!. Gotta get "Blue Dream" by Orenda Fink, man."

Done. Thanks for the recommendation Steve!
Gang of Four "Entertainment!"

Just scored tickets yesterday to see them in March at the legendary Horseshoe Tavern in Toronto. As a young sprog I was lucky enough to catch them in SFO in the mid-80's when my crush the bouncing pixie Sara Lee was their bass player. Now she's returned to the band for this tour (Yay!). Sadly no Andy Gill (RIP) but still it should be a cracking evening with the other original members

@bkeske,

Thanks for posting Brian.  I knew he had retired but I hadn’t heard about his passing.  RIP Maestro.
Must play his Bruckner No. 7 tonight: his final performance with the BP.
———————————

wow, so much great music being posted this evening gents. Thanks!  I too had never heard of Pete Christlieb/Warne Marsh "Apogee".  Thanks @dredison.

Big +1 on Peter Gabriel @tgilb
@slaw  @tomic601

Steve, Jim,

I think "Fair and Square" is my favorite John Prine album. I was fortunate to see his tour supporting that record. It was a fantastic show. Wish I had it on vinyl. Maybe I'll add it to my Christmas list...
Diving into Jeff Wayne’s The Musical Version of WAR Of The WORLDS double LP tonight in anticipation of a small Halloween gathering next weekend when guests may be shocked by the sonics as well as the terrifying story. That said, probably won’t need to sleep with a light on tonight. But so far, my ears are happy.
