Beethoven

Another Joni arrived today.....I now only need Blue to fill in the only gap up to this one...

Joni Mitchell - Mingus. Asylum 1979

This LP is in incredible shape, as is its cover. So many of these are worn, but not this one.
Patricia Barber - "Companion"

Label: Premonition Records – 90762-1 Format:2 x vinyl LP, Album, Limited Edition, Remastered, Stereo, Gatefold, 180g

First test record with Steve's MyMat on the TT. Sounds fantastic.....

Tom did you go with two ???? Licking my chops as #2 enroute to the SOTA.....

fun, I hope Steve crafts another batch for LP lovers.....
Hey Jim,

I did get two. Currently playing with one (and a MyMat donut on the spindle). I'll try two once I get a better feeling on how one works.
I got two MyMat.  The one I have on the bottom has the 4" hole and then the one on top has just the spindle hole.  The pliability of the material allows for the 4" record label to depress to the first MyMat.  SQ is remarkable, certainly a very good improvement over the felt mat I had.

Just finished cleaning a dozen records in the Degritter.  My tubes are warming up and I will play some records in just a bit.  Tonight is a better test, though.  Dim lights and some wine always improve the SQ.  I'll play familiar records to those settings in order to maintain consistency...😁
Thanks for the kind words all. I’m surprised yours was delivered so quickly Tom, Nice!

Been nursing an ongoing issue that flares up now and then, over the last two days. Just back from my granddaughters 2nd birthday party. Time for a little music.

Getting my first Covid vaccine tomorrow....been an eventful weekend so far.
Sting ‎– The Dream Of The Blue Turtles (A&M 1985)

This album sounds better with every system improvement. I recollect it being bright and garish. Tonight, it sounds great.
Tonight I started with, Foo Fighters. Incubus, humble pie, alice cooper, green day, Rammstein, paradise lost, white snake.
In this week:

Tim Hardin "Unforgiven"  ARC International/Association of Record Collectors/sealed/1980/1/2 speed

Featuring his last 8 songs. Should get to it later.
ya man Steve !,,, we got 3. i think it would be fun to write a review together...... ( Tapestry )
congrats on vaccine Steve.......so far zip for me but i have faith.

Brian - i share your opinion on Blue Turtles, i have a minty $1 bin diver copy but improvements in the system pull it towards neutrality....
Jim,

I'm in. I did listen to my standard copy the other day as well. After a US clean, of course.
man, i had a mega cassette ( all needle drop stuff from early to mid eighties ) type day....Midnight Oil, Dylan, Van Halen, Springsteen, Marshall Crenshaw, Indigo Girls...Working in garage....

Fun
Kid Ory's Creole Jazz Band ‎– This Kid's The Greatest! (Good Time Jazz 1962 mono)

Superb recording.
John Lennon - Mind Games, MFSL. Picked up an Acoustic Signature Wow XL turntable today. Giving it a chance to unseat my VPI Classic 2 as my best table. I like it so far, but haven't decided if it's a step up or lateral move.
@big_greg,

Is the change because you feel you're missing something or more out of curiosity?
Gordon Bok, Ann Mayo Muir, Ed Trickett ‎– All Shall Be Well Again (Folk-Legacy 1983)
@slaw I've always felt the VPI was a little noisy, and curiosity. I have a week to return it if I want.
Actually got the CD going.  Jerry Garcia, David Grisham and Tony Rice.  The Pizza tapes.  Amazing musicians.  Really wish they would release this on Vinyl.
@big_greg,

You should try a MyMat brother. It’ll bring out more of what you’re tt is capable of.

I know the PEET film helped quiet the VPI. There’s also a ruby tipped adjustment screw for the dual pivot that I’m gonna try with the film.

Also, you could change to the HRX pulley and use 2/3 belts, asumming you have a speed controller.

PM me if you want to talk more.
Welcome dtstevens. Very talented musicians for sure

Peter Hammill / The future now
Guys, was thinking about reserving "Tapestry". I have a copy, but it is the original, bought by my oldest sister when I was a wee lad. It got played on our console, then on my sister's Magnavox Quad all-in-one, taken to parties, etc. It is in horrible condition, so I don't play it.

However, seems ridiculous to me to spend $125 for one record, especially considering I only have a relatively value priced TT. Of course, if things continue as they've been so far, I could just flip the album in a year or so for a profit......

Tough call. BTW, where did you order yours? The MoFi site?
