Rushton,
Very nice program for an enjoyable last day of vacation! |
Beethoven Sonatas performed by Vladimir Horowitz (Columbia Masterworks).
Earlier today, " A Tab in the Ocean" by 70's British progressive/symphonic rock band Nektar. |
Ohio Players Gold (vinyl recorded to CD) Best of Badfinger (CD) |
Recently:
Nick Lowe - Labour of Lust Gary Brooker - No More Fear of Flying Chet Atkins - Teensville (RCA Living Stereo) Jeff Beck - Blow By Blow (particularly excellent recording) |
Terrapin Station - Grateful Dead...the title track is really something
Sing to Me Mr. C - Perry Como...wonderful RCA Victor Living Stereo recording from yesteryear. Wonderful sound! Vocals and harmonies that simply shimmer! They don't make 'em like this anymore. The distinctive sound quality makes this a very interesting and worthwhile listen. |
"Blood Sweat and Tears"
I hadn't broken this out in years. What a fantastic listen! |
John Mayall - The Turning Point |
"You Only Live Twice" Soundtrack "Bing Sings" "Faith" - George Michael |
Shumann Dichterliebe (1960 RCA shaded dog) I Robot and Pyramid - Alan Parsons Project Breathless - Camel Bing Sings (Readers Digest Box Set) |
Mitch Miller - Memories Between The Lines - Janis Ian A Man and His Music - Sinatra Feels So Good - Chuck Mangione Greatest Hits - Tommy Roe |
This Thanksgiving morning, Beethoven Symphony # 6 in F major (Pastorale), Bruno Walter, Columbia Symphony Orchestra, Colombia Masterworks lp, playing full tilt in all its majesty. Simply glorious recording and performance!
Happy Thanksgiving 2009 to all! |
Dr. Buzzards Original Savannah Band |
|
Face Value - Phil Collins (excellent recording) Security = Peter gabriel (also a very good recording. This was an early all digital recording as I recall. Assuming that true, this debunks the myth that early digital recordings were not very good). |
Dukes of Dixieland on 1959 Audio Fidelity vinyl. Nice!
Interesting technical specs regarding the recording on the album cover. Hi Fi was a big deal back then and some labels really made an all out assault on sound quality and people took notice.
Those were the days...... |

|
Will be looking for that one.... |
That’s a fun Caravan album. Much under-appreciated. |
uber how are you enjoying the new speakers versus old?
I would predict better dynamics that makes music like Deep Purple more engaging. |
Sounds good uber. Enjoy!
I'm a big Spatial fan from the one time I've heard them.
|
I have my SB "Looking In" lp framed and up on the wall. Always loved that album cover. SB is well represented in my music library.
Saw SB ~ 3 years back at Rams Head in Annapolis, MD. Good stuff! |
I'm listening to the remake of "Ripples" from the Steve Hackett "Genesis Revisited" release from a couple years back. Its a must have for any classic Genesis affectionado.
|
Ram is a great abum. Mccartney’s most beatlesque solo album perhaps. Seems much more well received by critics these days than when released and rightfully so.
I’ll never understand why Londontown has never caught on that much. |
"Living in the USA" - Linda Ronstadt. |
Uberwaltz knows his classic and prog rock. 👍
One small correction: “Magic is a Child”. |
My favorite Renaissance album. |
|
“Spinozza” by David Spinozza. |
"Panorama", 3rd album by The Cars, is way underappreciated in my mind. "Misfit Kid" got recently added to my personal favorites list. |
@big_greg4,
I have remastered Panorama CD ripped to server that I stream. It's a most enjoyable recording, very clean and crisp! Just like I remember the first Cars album sounding on vinyl back in college when it first came out. |
Ammonia Avenue……good stuff!
“Is there no sign of light as we stand in the darkness? Watching the sun arise Is there no sign of life as we gaze at the waters? Into the stranger’s eyes And who are we to criticize or scorn the things that they do? For we shall seek and we shall find Ammonia Avenue If we call for the proof and we question the answers Only the doubt will grow Are we blind to the truth or a sign to believe in? Only the wise will know And word by word they handed down the light that shines today And those who came at first to scoff, remained behind to pray
Yes, those who came at first to scoff, remained behind to pray
When you can’t hear the rhyme and you can’t see the reason Why should the hope remain? For a man will be tired and his soul will grow weary Living his life in vain And who are we to justify the right in all we do? Until we seek, until we find Ammonia Avenue Through all the doubt somehow they knew
And stone by stone they built it high, until the sun broke through A ray of hope, a shining light, Ammonia Avenue”

Currently listening to Savoy Brown-Jack the Toad
