Fleet Foxes new album, “Shore”, dropped on the services today.  Record won’t be out for a few months.  I’m on my second listen.  Seems maybe more pet sounds than ever (was always there).  Really nice though.

+1 tomic601(For Music) I gave up reading TAS/ Stereophile by Y2K for equipment reviews when I discovered a Yamaha MX 1 amp(captive cord) was better(never reviewed?) then any of the recommended listed budget amps.
@tomic601 Received your care gift yesterday. Thank you! I'm doing some home stuff so no records but will revert soon.
Zoot Sims - Soprano Sax (Pablo 1976)

#1 from the care pack. Tomic601 knows me too well. Laid back jazz and fine example of how close a soprano sax comes to a clarinet.  Enjoyable spin; all that was missing was a 44 year old dame smoking a tipped cigar. Didn't clean it. VG++ out of the box. Thanks.
@noromance, I too just received a mailer with LP's (two Paul Butterfield, and The London Chuck Berry Sessions) from @tomic601 (thanks, pal-o-mine!). He really is a coastal elite socialist, sharing the wealth like that. ;-)
@bdp24 Nothing better than audiophile masters helping out the grasshoppers.
Billie Preston - Wildest Organ In Town! (Capitol 1966 [RE year?])

The other care bear album is a Billie Preston organ rock out. While I’m not a big fan of the Hammond sound at 8am, unless it’s on a Leonard Cohen album, the drums and bass are awesome. I’ll save the other side for the other rig with the sub. Thanks again for the fun.

@bdp24  I have been enjoying the Evan Johns you sent me ! I got it ripped to flash memory and play it thru a AQ Jitterbug right into front panel of the Naim. I love it :-) the drummer creates the pocket -  I will get the CD and notes sent to @slaw the next destination....

fun

Berliner Philharmoniker
Bernard Haitink
Anton Bruckner, Symphony No. 7
Berliner Philharmoniker Recordings
2020

As a member (Digital Concert Hall/Berlin Philharmonic), I watched a special they produced on the making of this recording, showing how it was done, along with interviews.

My goodness, you are very privileged to have such a fine recording, and complete package set. From what I saw, it looked beautiful.

The only downside to me, personally, is I’m not a particular fan of Bruckner’s work. But Haitink is highly regarded in conducting his compositions.
Karajan conducts Tchaikovsky - Swan Lake & The Sleeping Beauty. Deutsche Grammophon 1972 Italian pressing
I am streaming Bruckner 7 w Haitink conducting Chicago - lovely tone color and attention to small details...
Kletzki conducts Mahler Symphony No.1. The Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. Angel, late 70’s release per label design.
@tomic601 & @bkeske
Jim, Brian, the Bruckner is a treasure.  Talk about jaw dropping sonics.  Whew!   I am indeed blessed to have it.  I don’t buy many fancy records but this, after Beethoven, is most important music to me.  I actually like that it doesn’t really have a melody.  The harmonics are Just transcendent.
I’d been listening to a lot of Bruckner earlier this year, esp the 7th and the 8th.  I have a Haitink conducted cycle (pretty good itself).  Don’t remember if I saw the Presto Classical review or M. Fremer’s piece first but both got me interested.  The BP web site (and The BP label) is fantastic.  It was a little expensive but there is nothing like the sound of this album.
@spiritofradio

+10 Enjoy it! Now that you mention it, I do remember Mikey’s review of it as well.
Just arrived in black disc: Charles Lloyd - Voice in the Night....

yowsa,wine consumption headed North... lovely

thanks to whoever referred this ...
Dohnanyi conducts Stravinsky- The Firebird. Vienna Philharmonic. London 1980
Chico Hamilton...."Man From Two Worlds" . Especially "Forest Flower" with Charles Lloyd.
Zubin Mehta  conducts Saint-Saens Symphony #3. The Los Angels Philharmonic Orchestra. London 1971
Casals play Schubert. String Quartet in C Major, Op.163, recorded live @ the Casals Festival, Prades. Tunabout 1971

Really like this recording. And the new rig really does help to ‘put you there’.
Neil Young - After the Goldrush my copy is a reissue Winchester pressing... ugh.. the 2009 remaster digital just kills it...

@tomic601, if you want to hear Evan in a different setting, he joined the Austin band The Leroi Brothers for one album---Lucky Lucky Me. I found a sealed copy on Discogs for ten bucks, where currently there are a bunch of Mint copies for even less.

Mike Buck, who was the original drummer in The Fabulous Thunderbirds, drums on all the Leroi Brothers’ albums. He and I met when he was working with Ted Roddy, and they and my band shared the stage at a now-closed Blues club in Long Beach (don’t recall the name). We couldn’t believe it when we saw each other’s drumsets---identical 1960’s Ludwigs! Champagne Sparkle 22/16/13, with a chrome over brass snare drum. He suggested we set up just one and both play on it, but I’m a lefty.

Small world: Mike drummed on one album with Evan, as did I. Then we cross paths in Long Beach, CA. But at that point in time his stint with Evan was in the past, mine lay ahead in the future. Who knew?! Mike is now part owner of Antone’s Record Store. Hey, maybe they have a copy of Lucky Lucky Me! ;-)

Eric I love your stories - you could write a great book :-)

I will look for that album
Regarding @tomic601's impression of his pressing of After The Goldrush, what is a good copy of that album to look for? How about the Harvest album? Somewhere along the line I got rid of my originals, wanna get the best sounding LP versions available (even if out-of-print). I guess I should head over the Steve Hoffman Forums, ay?
I am interested in what you learn also Eric. I did send an Gold Rush to @mr_m , Tim has a great TT/cart and ears ??? What’s your impression ???
