Whats on your turntable tonight?

For me its the first or very early LP's of:
Allman Brothers - "Allman Joys" "Idyllwild South"
Santana - "Santana" 200 g reissue
Emerson Lake and Palmer - "Emerson Lake and Palmer"
and,
Beethoven - "Piano Concerto No. 4 in G Major" Rudolph Serkin/Ozawa/BSO
slipknot1

bkeske (Brian),

Is the JGB album well recorded? I have that on CD & like it, but it doesn't sound the best.

Pan American / ST

@slaw: I put the EU pressing of Little Village (which I learned of from you) on my To Get list, but have yet to do so. Say, your mention of a Vinyl Flat carbon fiber heating bag is the first I've heard of that. I need to investigate the matter!

When The Pretenders came to L.A. on their first tour, they appeared at, of all places, The Palomino. The place was absolutely packed, the most crowded I've ever seen it. They were pretty damn cool. Too bad the guitarist and bassist couldn't handle their drugs. ;-)

Dominique Fils-Aimé - Nameless. Really well recorded and produced, vinyl sounds like crap. This one is better streamed.

Maria Muldaur-Open You Eyes Side 2 SQ*

Hall & Oates Live Side A

Frank Sinatra-Ol’ Blue Eyes Is Back(Quadradisc) Side 1

Bread-Guitar Man Side 1 SQ Audiophile

David Gates-Never Let Her Go Side 1 SQ Audiophile

The 5TH Dimension/Live!! Side 2

Scandal-Warrior Side 1

Pat Benatar-Precious Time Side 1

David Gates takes the SQ crown tonight since I gave a slight edge over his band Bread. Vocals were not as projected(forced) on his solo album. *Muldaur just misses with her Grundman mastered recording of very solid content. Sinatra takes last place with the Quadradisc format. Sounds much better in the original stereo format.

Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers-The Witch Doctor 2021 BN Tone Poet

Freddie Hubbard-In Concert Volume One 1974 CTi

Paul and Linda McCartney - Ram. Columbia/MPL reissue 1980, originally 1971

Brian Eno - Taking Tiger Mountain (By Strategy), half-speed mastered, great SQ!

If all goes well, this coming weekend, I'll begin installing some of the Townshend products.

Forgot to mention, I bought a couple of 1st generation PPT Omega mats. I know of their companies effective products Been using their Omega + E Mats in my fuse box. Started a process of pasting with their original product. All made a noticeable improvement.

Using one mat above and below the SMc Audio amp. Additional transparency.

Yes, I agree on those harmonies.  That album will be out this year on OneStep.  I have it on preorder and really look forward to it.

Crosby, Stills and Nash - S/T First Album

1969 Atlantic Records

I have to say the harmonies on Helplessly Hoping rival any by The Beach Boys and  The Beatles. In my opinion anyways.

Bill Callahan "Sometimes I Wish We We're an Eagle"

2009/Drag City

Highly recommended!!!

BTW, @bdp24 ,

Did you ever search out a EU pressing of Little Village? I remember talking about it on another thread. If so, maybe you could write your impressions of both copies?

It was Eric, until the company switched away from their original carbon fiber pouch.

@slaw: Isn't the Vinyl Flat a God-send? One less thing to be concerned about when when searching for hard-to-find LP's!

King Crimson - In The Court of The Crimson King

1969/2018 Discipline Reissue on 200g. Great SQ.

Shushi/Liquid Lunch on Saturday brought out an interesting playlist last night... Shuggie Otis, "Freedom Flight" on the streamer - gotta get this on vinyl! Then to table with Doyle Bramhall II & Smokestack, "Welcome" & wrapped with Elton John, "Tumbleweed Connection" - a decidedly diverse set, lol

No Steve, single ended only. Had I went for a new Belles dual mono they would have been (as my pre has balanced out). But, well, think I will be fine. It was a consideration, but didn’t outweigh the others.

I was lucky to catch The Pretenders at a small hall ( Mershon ) early 80’s….off charts fantastic…..

LiL Feat - Dixie Chicken

Pretenders "Hate For Sale"

Started remembering Chrissie last year and bought her Dylan lp. I was mightily impressed. Since streamed other titles. Some good stuff there.

Hey @bkeske,

My original EU pressing of Little Village has reference quality sound.

Leo Kottke - Circle 'Round The Sun. His first full studio recording LP. Symposium Music 1970

Radio station copy

Amy Helm - This Too Shall Light

Ben Webster Quintet - Soulville

Buddy and Julie Miller - Written in Chalk

……

@tomic601

Well, truth be told, I didn’t wear underwear back then (damn hippies). So, yea, music was always before underwear.

First watched a movie last night.  Didn't get to that Hendrix 'Axis' album but will sometime this week.

John Coltrane  -  A Love Supreme

David Crosby  -  If I Could Only Remember My Name   50th Anniversary Edition, been listed here lately so felt compelled to play it again.  Sonic excellence!

Gino Vannelli  -  Powerful People   MFSL issue, perfect condition, I have owned it since first released.  This is a real sonic adventure.  Musically it's fantastic, but sonically it's stunning.  If you don't have this in your collection I strongly recommend getting a copy.  On Discogs I see several MFSL copies rated NM/M- going for $20, $25, and $30.
