@bkeske

Do you find the majority of the Deutsche Grammophon pressings to be of good sound quality? I have just a few that sound very good and am looking at picking up a few others that I'm interested in. Thanks.

Amadeus-Quartett
Schubert - String Quartet In G Major
Deutsche Grammophon 1974, Australian release

Mireille Mathieu – Mireille... Mireille (Barclay 1969)

When the table can track this, you know all is well.

Jackson Browne - The Pretender

1976/1984 Asylum Records Reissue

Another great mastering job on Asylum.

The Nash Ensemble
The Chamber Music of Malcom Arnold #1
Violin Sonata No 2, Op 43 / Five Pieces For Violin & Piano, Op 84 / Viola Sonata, Op 17 / Violin Sonata No 1, Op 15 / Duo For Two Cellos, Op 85 / Piano Trio, Op 54

Hyperion 1986 UK release

Jody Miller – Wednesday's Child Is Full Of Woe (Capitol 1963 mono)

Kid with great voice.

Steely Dan - Two Against Nature ( RSD 2021 release )…. in a word superb !

Eagles - Hotel California

1976/2017 Elektra/Asylum Reissue

I always thought that the original Eagles pressings were very well done with great SQ. This reissue takes it up a notch. Well balanced with great dynamics but not overdone.

Eagles - On The Border

1974 Asylum Records - Early pressing.

As I said earlier. Very well done. Great SQ.

1st UK Rough Trade pressing of For How Much Longer Do We Tolerate Mass Murder? by the Pop Group.
As is so often the case with this period of late-70s, early-80s UK Rough Trade releases, the sound quality is awesome, and my goodness, what a strikingly original, great, great album this is!!

Brian my stacked Quads were high passed w caps installed in the two CJ MV-45a amps driving them…it definitely increased clarity. The sub filters were more complex. Take a look at what all goes into a Vandy high pass filter, great parts are just part of the equation IMO.

Brother in law has the small REL. Good to great w His Dynaudio mini monitors.

Have fun ;-)

Jim

Dire Straits- Making Movies ( MoFi ) inspired by @tgilb , thanks !

Joel - It will all be worth the wait ;-)

Good stuff, Jim. Nice to see Brian over there too. Interesting how the high pass cleaned things up. Now, you have me thinking if my ESL need a pair of small RELs.

Dire Straits - Making Movies

1980 WB

SQ holds up to the Dire Straits gold standard.

Jim, thanks for asking.  It's a looooooong build-to-order process.  About 8 to 9 weeks still to go (including shipping time).  Really looking forward to them.  Should have some pictures fairly soon, once the inlays are completed.

Enjoy your new subwoofer.  Really nice stuff!

Lou Rawls  -  All Things In Time    Thanks to dayglow for giving this an Audiophile SQ rating.  It's a wonderful album and it sounds great!

Dave Mason  -  It's Like You Never Left   slaw played this the other day and that gave me the thought to play my copy.  Very nice album.

Procol Harum  -  Broken Barricades    I just can't get enough of this album.  Robin Trowers' guitar playing signature is so strong on this.  So sorry that Gary Brooker passed away a couple of months ago.

ELO  -  Eldorado    MoFi issue on Supervinyl.  This is an excellent album from ELO and MoFi certainly did it justice.  My copy arrived yesterday.  Someone stated here the other day that the bass is a bit heavy, or thick, or something like that.  I tend to agree but I also believe that is the sound character ELO wanted and is part of what this album is.  I did find that turning the subwoofer down one click made for a better listening experience, though.  The vinyl is superb!  I wish that my entire collection was as quiet as this vinyl compound.

rather than clutter up the fine music thread here, you can see my sub3 photos, setup, initial listening thoughts on the Vandersteen website forum….. more to come…fun

The Electric Light Orchestra - The Night The Light Went On In Long Beach, German import

Genesis - and then there were three

Another night of diversity. Forgot how good Pictures At Eleven is will play in entirety. Mr. Como gets the worst SQ crown those RCA and Dynagroove recordings are best avoided? Dave Grusin and Band take the SQ trophy with a top level fusion jazz recording.

@spiritofradio

I have box set III of that Beethoven string quartet collection. Absolutely outstanding recordings! Was actually thinking of playing some tonight.

I really need to invest in the other sets.

Beethoven • String Quartet in E flat Major, Op. 127 & String Quartet in F major, Op. 155 • Amadeus Quartet • DGG (Germany) 1981 Box Set No. 4

Jackie DeShannon – New Image (Imperial 1967)

Sounds so good. 50+ years later and new stuff can’t come close.
