Whats on your turntable tonight?

For me its the first or very early LP's of:
Allman Brothers - "Allman Joys" "Idyllwild South"
Santana - "Santana" 200 g reissue
Emerson Lake and Palmer - "Emerson Lake and Palmer"
and,
Beethoven - "Piano Concerto No. 4 in G Major" Rudolph Serkin/Ozawa/BSO
slipknot1

Eduard van Beinum conducts Brahms - Symphony No. 2 In D Major, Opus 73. Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam. Epic, late 1950’s, Mono

Wow! Got the VTA dialed in on this Steely Dan lp with my Stillpoints LP1, exquisite!!

SS could be wider, with another resistor.

I failed to mention that my center hole reamer was a great necessity here.

These two lps are a little ticky.😕

Eugene Ormandy conducts Beethoven - Concertos 2 & 4 For Piano And Orchestra. Rudolf Serkin with The Philadelphia Orchestra. Columbia Masterworks 1955, Mono

Hey @j_husker ,

I experienced that recently with a Yardbirds lp but three sides sounded best , those were 1A, side 2 was a 1D. Big sonic difference.

I do occasionally drink.

buster williams - crystal reflections

blissed out groovy 70s jazz with heavy rhodes and roy ayers on vibes. aka the type of record i never get tired of

Jerry Garcia Acoustic Band-Ragged But Right 2022 Round Records RSD

The Bill Evans Trio-Trio '65 2022 Verve Ume Acoustic Sounds Series

Strange with the Garcia Band set. Sides A,B, and C are not easy to listen to, probably rate them 3 out of 5 stars for sq. The D side is a solid 4.5 stars sonically. Can’t say I’ve experienced this before. I don’t drink and there are no pain meds onboard, so I’m certain its the vinyl and not me!

E. Power Biggs & New England Brass Ensemble : Music For Organ And Brass: Canzonas Of Gabrieli And Frescobaldi. Columbia Masterworks 1959, Mono

A Recording Premiere of the first true concert organ in America, built by D. A. Flentrop in 1958 for the Busch-Reisinger Museum at Harvard University.

BTW, I was able for find a reasonably priced copy of "Sweet Relief" June 2022 RSD exclusive on Discogs. Should be here next Tuesday. Hoping it was worth the effort. Have had it on CD since it's original release, and love the album. I'm not typically a big fan of various artists compilations, but I've always enjoyed this one...

Marty Stuart & His Fabulous Superlatives "Way Out West"

2017/Superlatone Records

Such a beautiful album!

I (as well as @bdp24 ) agree! Great album...

I’ve been through 4 or 5 off of Amazon. Their return policy is so generous that it’s easy to find one your satisfied with. They have changed brand names often through the years so that makes it hard to recommend one that I’m still using after 4-5 years now. One with a larger water tank is nice. Remember that your usable amount of water is less than the tanks' stated capacity.

Hey Chris,

Have you ever used a hand held steamer to clean lps? I find it a useful tool in my vinyl cleaning arsenal.

Steve,

It's a pp, but unfortunately, I am going to have to send it back to the seller. Just got it today and side two is badly worn and noisy, despite a deceptively clean surface appearance. It was rated NM, clearly on visual inspection only. Oh well, that's the danger of buying on eBay. Usually, I have better luck. I'll find a better one.

Good to see you're getting some quality listening time during your recovery process, Steve. Gotta get on that Marty Stuart record!

After reading above, I remember Chloe. I put it on my best of list for 2022. Need to listen again for sure.

+1 on Father John. I streamed his latest Chloe … and GFC still holds as my favorite of his. Great album. He is definitely an interesting artist.

Glenn Gould : Bach - The Goldberg Variations. Columbia Masterworks 1956, Mono

Sir Thomas Beecham conducts Rimsky-Korsakov - Scheherazade. The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Angel 1958, mono

Greg, It sounded very good! Can't be more descriptive due to system changes but seemed very overall coherent and solid

Cozy Cole, Buddy Tate, Wallace Davenport, Vic Dickenson – French Festival - Nice, France 1974 (Classic Jazz 1975)

Love this album.

Just arrived today, took me by a bit of a surprise, as it was sold as the stereo version, but instead the mono version, but it is very clean, and will keep it. Sounds very nice, and gives me a reason to put on my Ortofon mono cartridge and spin some of my mono collection….which I have been meaning to do.

The Kohon Quartet of New York University : Dvořák - Chamber Music Vol. II (Complete). VOX 3LP box, believe mid-1960’s, mono

@slaw How did you like the Dan?  I'm still waiting on mine.  It's scheduled to arrive tomorrow.
