Whats on your turntable tonight?

For me its the first or very early LP's of:
Allman Brothers - "Allman Joys" "Idyllwild South"
Santana - "Santana" 200 g reissue
Emerson Lake and Palmer - "Emerson Lake and Palmer"
and,
Beethoven - "Piano Concerto No. 4 in G Major" Rudolph Serkin/Ozawa/BSO
slipknot1

@bslon   I agree with you about Outlandos d' Amour.  I played that a few months ago and it is just fabulous, as you stated.  Time to play that again, very soon.

Count Basie  -  Basie Jam #2

Count Basie  -  Basie Jam #3

I have Basie Jam (the first of this 3 series album set) and like it so much that I bought the other two, which just arrived.  They are all wonderful, but I think that I am quickly placing #3 as the best of them.  Excellent performance and really good sonics.  Highly recommended.

New Hungarian Quartet : Schubert - The Last Four Quartets.

  • Quartet Movement in C Minor, D.703
  • String Quartet No. 13 in A Minor, D.804
  • String Quartet No. 14 in D Minor, D.810 ("Death and the Maiden")
  • String Quartet No. 15 in G Major, D. 887

Sweet Relief - A Benefit for Victoria Williams

My RSD purchase arrived today. Really happy that Columbia decided to reissue this on vinyl. I've owned it on CD since it was first released in 1993. This vinyl release is a little better sounding than the CD to me. Really happy to have it...

The Police / Outlandos d’Amour
1978 A&M

Hadn’t played this in a long time, forgot how good it is—performance and sonics.

England Dan & John Ford Coley-Dowdy Ferry Road Side 1

Nielsen-Symphony No.4(Karajan DS 2532 029) Side 1 + 2 SQ Audiophile

CCR-Cosmo's Factory Side 2

Angela Bofill-Something About You Side 2

Al Di Meola-Casino Side 2 SQ Audiophile

Ulrich Schnauss-A Long Way To Fall Side A

Survivor-Vital Signs Side 1

Paul McCartney-Band On The Run Side 1 SQ Audiophile

Every recording had above average SQ tonight. I will give Casino the slight edge over BOTR since my Di Meola copy is mint but my OP McCartney is VG. Need to find a better OP copy. Dowdy Ferry Road might fill the dollar bins but it's a near Audiophile SQ recording with top level songwriting. Survivor is somewhat of a nostalgic recording for me and my wife she still loves the songs and I was obsessed with the woman in the "High On You" video, can't blame a kid at 19.

It's one of my original thoughts as to my current decoupling system Brian

Steve…i might have 2x interesting 6922 for you…. Cryo “ Russian Rockets “…. stay tuned brother !

I am streaming Patty Griffin - Tape… lovely NPR interview w her on Weekend Edition…. ;-) I dig her….

@slaw

Wasn’t sure, as you have two TT’s (albeit, yes, two different tables, arms, carts, etc)…….or, just for fun, an RCA switch box. No, nothing to leave in the chain, but I know I could find myself using to check out one vs the other temporarily. 😉

@slaw

Steve, do you have the ability to switch between the two phono pre’s ‘on the fly’? That would be interesting.

So far my impressions are positive on my new to me phono stage. I feel comparing resistors in the MC , will be critical. Then I’ll focus on a passive volume.

There’s a beauty now in the presentation that wasn’t there before. Although the SS could have more bloom😕 Lot’s of options going forward .

There’s much more of a difference in album to album SQ now.

A blessing and a curse

Another interesting fact, my Trio uses 3/6922

The Audia Flight is SS. Bass is incredible.

Hey Joel,

I have the op of that Beth Hart lp and it sounds great from memory.

Her Albert Hall set is great!

Beth Hart  -  Bang Bang Boom Boom   White vinyl reissue, limited to 500 copies.  With all that hype I figured it would be great SQ.  Well, just so-so.  But the music is great!  Love Beth Hart.

Alan Parsons Project  -  Eye In The Sky   Mobile Fidelity issue, just released.  I always like this album very much.  But I can't find my copy.  So, I bought this reissue from MoFi.  WOW, they really did an excellent job on this one.  Exceptionally quiet vinyl, killer sonics.

The Traffic album is recommended. Really quiet and great sounding!

Same as the box set pressing.

Fabulous SQ on these records tonight!
