What's in your CDP tonight? the minority report
I enjoy vinyl and digital (lately, with recent changes, vinyl actually sounds better than digital to me), BUT given what seems an overall preference for analog/vinyl on A'gon, I'm curious what the non-vinyl "1/2" is listening to. I tried to see if this was a previously posted question. Did not seem so.

Nutty's "What's playing on your system today?" is another good one. How are you liking that McVie/Buckingham album? Haven't checked that out yet. |
ghosthouse giving it mixed review so far..has the bright guitar in your face sonic fingerprint of Buckingham...dont hear the moody blues genious of Christine at work enough... lead off track hints at the brilliance of better Fleetwood Mac but as Tom Petty sang ” the A&R man dont hear a single i need to keep playing it tho.... |
@tomic601 Okay...I hear you on the LB/CM. I like Lindsey’s guitar playing in FWM, though I tend to prefer the older FWM of Peter Green or with Bob Welch (esp. Penguin & Mystery to Me). Not a huge fan of Lindsey solo...have only Out of the Cradle. Maybe, left alone, he is too perfectionistic and overworks stuff, squeezing the life out of it. Not sure. Definitely talented but not a lot of depth for me. @toddverrone You can thank Spotify Browse/Discover for that one, Todd. It was a Spotify recommendation. Took a little bit to hook me. First time (first couple, maybe) I didn’t really "get it" - but kept coming back anyway... being drawn back. It’s definitely a gem. I really, really liked Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers. At first. But there was something about them, or more correctly, about him, that didn't wear well with me. I at first just lost interest, eventually coming to actually dislike him. I know a lot of others still like him, and I appreciate that. But I was in my favorite Portland record store yesterday, and out of their system came a sound I recognized, a sound I love; it was The Dwight Twilley Band, a long-time favorite of mine. Wait a minute, no it's not. It's Dwight singing backgrounds on "Strangered In The Night", a song on the first TP & THB album. Now THAT'S more like it! Everyone who has and likes that album, give a listen to "SITN". See how much better that song is than the others on the album? Now, go and buy the first Dwight Twilley Band album, Sincerely. Prepare to be blown away! |
