Jimmy LaFave
"Trial three"
Lots of live demos/recordings. Alltogether five trials. RIP. |
21st Century Breakdown ... Green Day.

A hi-res remaster of Whitesnake's Slide It In on Qobuz. Don't ask me why. |
Greg great mnds, I was just looking at that on Quboz picks.
Whitesnake, ultimate hair band of the late 80,s early 90,s.
David Coverstar at his chest wig finest! |
But I went with this instead....
Shock ... Tesla
Nice to see them still rockin
Quboz
|
It’s a wonderful life ... Sparklehorse
Quboz |
Eye in the Sky ... The Alan Parsons Project.
Quboz |
Hard to go wrong with Alan Parsons Project. |
I'm listening to
DRIFT Episode 2 “ATOM” on Tidal this morning with headphones. |
New York Dolls S/T.
Quboz.
Just good old rock,n,roll 80,s style. |
The Stone Roses S/T.
Quboz |
Just for n80.
Paradise Theater ... Styx.
I think the only tour they visited England with in the 70,s was in support of this album.
Outdoor stadium type venue. Blew my mind! |
|
Best of Everything ... Tom Petty.
Quboz hires.
Agree with Ozzy, flat and lacking in dynamics.
Could have been a lot better. |
@uberwaltz : I regret that I never saw Styx or REO Speedwagon. Foreigner was a good show but of the ’guitar bands’ Journey was the best. Steve Perry had some pipes.
Tonight:
The Civil Wars - eponymous
Listened to "The Best of Everything" last night. I’ll probably buy it at some point. Everyone has that one song they wish they’d put on it. Mine would be "Born a Rebel". Not very PC these days, but a fine song. |
n80.
Likewise I regret never having the opportunity to see the classic Journey. Steve Perry does indeed possess a voice for sure,I have a very recent solo album of his "Traces" and the guy can still sing.
Tonight
Let your Hair Down ... Steve Miller Band.
Quboz |
Banga .... Patti Smith.
Quboz hires |
Twelve ... Patti Smith.

I have to blame Ghosthouse and Stevecham for this next one.
😇😇😇😇
A Trick of the Tail ... Genesis.

Hoping you find it time well spent, U.
Curious what you think (though I doubt it is your first listen). |
Definitely time well spent but I am afraid it does appear that it is indeed my first listen.
Have to admit to not being a huge Genesis fan, there early stuff was too far out for me and their later stuff too poppy and chart driven ( not that I blame Mr Collins for that at all, after all money is money!).
First impression of this was what a superb recording, really dynamic and expansive.
Second impression was that it might just be about the right mix of prog and rock to be palatable for myself.
It will certainly get more airtime
|
Glad you enjoyed the recording quality, U. Have to agree with your comment about later Genesis being too poppy and chart driven. I pretty much stopped following them after "...And Then There Were Three" (though Duke, Abacab and the '83 s/t Genesis still have good material on them).
Hopefully this recommendation serves you better than Consequences did!
If at all interested in exploring Collins' drummer chops in a completely non-commercial (fusion) vein, pull up some Brand X. Unorthodox Behavior is on Tidal but I don't know about Quboz. |
G.
Been even longer since I listened to Brand X!
I think need be in right mood for that, maybe later with a hot chocolate and Bailey's! |
Product ... Brand X.
There you go G.
Looks like Quboz has full catalog of their work.
I find this one to be pretty accessible.
Btw as far as consequences goes, I recorded to tape then sold the box set to someone who was over the moon with it so it all worked out.
|
The Kick Inside ... Kate Bush.
Quboz.
A voice you either love or hate....
|
Concrete Blonde S/T.
Quboz 24/192.
Outstanding! |
The 2nd Law .... Muse.

Good you weren't "stuck" with Consequences, U. Also nice to know there's at least one other fan of it out there.
Did you find Brand X to your liking (with or without aid of Bailey's and Hot Chocolate)?
As far as Kate Bush...what's not to love?
|
G.
Brand X was surprisingly refreshing, excellent musicianship all round.
And as for Kate, when you think that album was released at 19 years of age and some of the songs she had wrote at 13 years old.....
Child prodigy and I love how she refused to bow to record label pressure. She called the shots on releasing Wuthering heights. She refused to tour in support of albums ( 2 tours only in her entire career) and when studios got stroppy she built her own studio!
Indeed what is not to love! |
Unleashed Memories ... Lacuna Coil.
Ripped vault library.
|
|
Ketchup.
Nice to see someone still using a Squeezebox.
What I started streaming with.
|
Nomzamo ... IQ.
Still my favourite IQ album, very musical and accessible. Not as concept Like as some of their later efforts. |
uberwaltz, I have had my Squeezebox for ever and it won’t die. What are you using now, a Vault 2? Is the sound any better than the Squeezebox when streaming Tidal or whatever?
|
Ketchup. I moved to the Vault2,then an Auralic Aries Mini, now using my new Ayre ex8 super integrated.
I would say a definite improvement in SQ at the vault2,incremental at the Mini and another leap with the Ayre. |
Blizzard of Oz ... Ozzy.
Classic madman album! |
Todd Rundgren - Something / Anything - Qobuz 24/96 |
Tea For The Tillerman... Cat Stevens.
Quboz 24/192 |
I trawl the Megahertz ... Prefab Sprout.
Quboz |
The Red Shoes .... Kate Bush.
Quboz |
Achtung Baby ... U2
Followed by...
Black Coffee ... Beth Hart.
These two could not be further apart in SQ!
As others have said Actung baby is very compressed and lacking in dynamics.
Black Coffee is so musical and dynamic it is seductive. |
Bingo ... The Steve Miller Band
Followed by....
Stranded ... Roxy Music.
Quboz
|
Other Aspects live at the Royal Festival Hall .... Paul Weller Quboz |
Cat Power - Jukebox
Some fine SQ here too. Remember Lee Clayton - Silver Stallion.
Tidal |
Hahahahahah,SAMURAI JACK via Xfinity High Speed Internet, the epp.where Scottsmans wife is kidnapped..The soundtrack is amazing,if you've ever heard really good Bag Pipes up close you know they can be strident enough to break glass, here the pipes are absolutely glorious on the KT88 driven Harbeths at near live levels! |
Freediver That sounds like a treat!
