why expensive streamers
@soix  - That was exactly my experience.
Unplugging power cords from amps/ pre amps
Does anyone unplug all the electronics in their house... My stereo is easily the most expensive and hardest to replace, so I naturally unplug it.  I also unplug my computers and welders, but they're just expensive.

@tattooedtrackman that's exactly how I unplug my amps, crossover, and powerstrip every time a storm rolls through (I just did it again, actually).  It's easier for me to do it at the component than at the wall.
why expensive streamers
I went from a Node 2 to a used Aurender that cost $1,800 a few years ago and had no expectations.  I was blown away at the difference.  You can now buy the same streamer for around 1K.  The "streamers make no difference" people are typically those...

How would you spend my next $5K?
I win, lol! 😀

@grislybutter  what is the point of buying a new vinyl and not streaming or buying the same content on a CD? Many newly pressed vinyl releases are new AAA tape transfers that are not available on CD or streaming platforms.  Tone Poet, Atlantic...

Amazon is one of the best places to buy vinyl as long as you have Prime/free returns.  The packaging is usually great (record mailer inside another box) and returns are simple if there's an issue with the record.
Planar Speakers and Diffusors
@ozzy - It’s interesting that you get the best sound with the speakers 60" from the front wall. That’s exactly what the Cardas calculator for dipoles recommends for your room dimensions (well, 59.28" to be exact).
Planar Speakers and Diffusors
@ozzy you should also look into ATS Acoustic's QRD diffusers.  They're similar to GIK's, but they're a better value (lower cost per square foot of wall coverage).  They will also custom make them in any height you want for a minimal upcharge. Ano...
Wool Blankets as Room treatment
Start with bass traps to get the low end under control first. This should be the first step in treating a room. Measure the room as is and then as you add treatments so you aren’t just guessing. You really can never have too much bass trapping. Go...

Address room acoustics.  You should be able to treat the whole thing with that budget or less and the improvement will be orders of magnitude greater than spending 5k on gear.
Found a Milty Zerostat alternative
I bought one to use on LPs, but have not tried yet.  I works amazingly for loosening up staticky coffee grounds in my burr grinder's catch chamber, though!  I use it on that almost every morning.
Just FYI: Tidal is consolidating their HiFi and HiFi Plus tiers
I find it ironic that they refer to themselves as best in class after they fell for MQA. I had the exact same thought. Why anyone would choose Tidal today is beyond me.
Eminent Technology ET-2 Tonearm Owners
The key to using a shop compressor is to have a large enough tank for at least one listening session.  I can listen to LPs for days with one fill of my 60 gallon tank.  It's the most quiet air source you can possibly have and there's no need for a...
