What are you streaming tonight?

As we are in the modern age of music I thought I would see how this fares.
We have threads specific for cdp and tt so why not streaming as it is a modern media.
I don't care if you stream Tidal, Deezer, Spotify, Paradise Radio or any number of internet stations.
I would like you to share your tastes and method of streaming.

There's a super nice vinyl version of Cafe Blue you can show off your vinyl system with, assuming you have one.
@big_greg -- Alfamist is da bomb! Such a beautiful synthesis of jazz an d musicality and hiphop
I'm uber late to the party, but Patricia Barber's Cafe Blue - which I had never heard nor heard of until it was the next album on a suggested playlist after a Mechelle Ndegeocello album had finished a few nights ago.
Nancy Wilson - You And Me

 Qobuz Hi-Res

big_greg

I thought you referenced to the OTHER Nancy Wilson, and was eager to check out the album.  😬. A very enjoyable solo album from the former member of Heart (not the solo jazz singer…)
The Beatles - Revolver

Qobuz

I came across this article on Discogs about how listening to this album on headphones improves many of its engineering faults.  I thought I’d break out my Meze 99 Noir headphones and check out the authors assertions.  They make some good points.

Nancy Wilson - You And Me, Qobuz Hi-Res.  I'm only a couple of songs in, but really like this.  NPR did a nice interview with her yesterday about this record.

Mulatu Astatqé – Éthiopiques 4: Ethio Jazz & Musique Instrumentale 1969-1974

Qobuz

Interesting jazz compilation from Ethiopia

Christophe Sirodeau – Dvorak Legends & From the Bohemian Forest

Qobuz Hi-Res

A little change of pace for me.  Some light classical piano music for a quiet afternoon
Christian McBride - The Q Sessions

Qobuz Hi-Res

Continuing with the mellow jazz
New release Friday - checking out Gary Moore's How Blue Can You Get on Qobuz.  Apparently it's unreleased material culled from his archives after he passed on.  I'm really enjoying it so far.

Our friend uberwaltz has left the building.  I haven't talked to him in a while, but he was done with the forums.
BTW, I tend to be more active in finding music and don’t like to rely on computer algorithms. They tend to pigeonhole their suggestions after a while.  I have found the UDiscover Music has some good articles and the ubiquitous “Best Of” lists.  If I am interested in a particular style of music they probably have an article about it; that helps me to plan my listening.  A recent article is posted below:

I wholeheartedly agree! I don’t use Qobuz’s recommendations, but then again I enjoy the thrill of the hunt.  The people on this thread always post stuff I am willing to check out.  And Qobuz does have a large library.

Per your earlier suggestion, I try to post rudimentary descriptions about what I’m listening to when I have the time or inclination. I only seem to post about half the stuff I listen to, though, due to time or laziness.  But I do like it when someone advocates for music I’m not familiar with, and I am more likely than not to check it out.  I have had a few revelations that way.

Speaking of the OP, has anyone heard from uberwaltz lately?
A thought about this thread: I check here often to look for new music to listen to. I like Qobuz but it sucks when it comes to recommending stuff based on your previous listening. As far as I can tell it does not have that feature at all and I might drop it for that reason.

But, it would be nice if folks would put a brief description of what they're listening to and why they like it, especially if it is less popular/more obscure type stuff. Just seeing the name of an artist and the album does not help much when looking for new music.

I'm also guilty of just listing what I'm listening to without any editorial content so I'm not criticizing. I just think this would be a more useful thread with some description, etc. If I'm out of line just ignore me and apologies to the OP (uberwaltz) if that is the case.
@ovinwar, I have found some of U2's later recordings to be that way, in particularly Achtung Baby. Sounds fine in the cars or MP3 w/ ear buds. Can hardly listen to it on my main system.
Right now, listening to Art Blakey - Moanin'
Ozzy
i recently played several Styx CDs and was surprised at how poorly they were recorded. Never could get the to sound satisfy. Bummer because it brought back lots of memories in an old Camaro.

Peter White on Tidal. I have since turned it off and cannot recall album. Genre is acoustic guitar. One of my favorites. Probably listen to Earl Klugh and Peter White more than any other. I don’t like the Tidal algorithm for recommending music as it doesn’t seem to capture my likes.

i know what you mean. I was listening to Grand Illusion on Qobuz and it just was so muddy.
ovinewar1

Which Peter White album are you listening to?  On which service?  What genre of music is he?
STYX.
I do wish they could remaster this music for better sound quality.
Now that I have a better system than when this music was released some of the songs can sound pretty strident.

Marisa Andersen - Mercury

Qobuz

Another mellow solo guitarist.  Entrancing!
Yasmin Williams - Urban Driftwood

Qobuz

A young solo guitarist local to the DC music scene.  Extremely talented, and this stunning album is only her second.
Ornette Coleman - The Shape Of Jazz To Come

Qobuz Hi-Res

continuing on a trend of groundbreaking jazz music
Plastic Ono Band - (The Ultimate Collection), Qobuz Hi-Res.  I doubt I'll make it through all 120 songs of outtakes and such, but this is a nice collection and sounds fantastic.
Nina Simone - Baltimore

Qobuz

Not one of her better albums (as she admitted), but it has its moments.
Hanna Enlof - BareBones

Swedish singer-songwriter.  Good late night music.  It always surprises me how Scandinavians can do a perfect American accent, considering how different their mother tongue is.
I wanted to stream the new Lucinda Williams Runnin' Down a Dream tribute to T. P. but it doesn't appear to be streaming anywhere, at least not on any of the services I subscribe to.  If any of my vinyl loving friends pick it up I'd love to hear your impressions.

I really enjoyed the live Norah, too!  One of the apparent side effects of the pandemic is the proliferation of live recordings being issued.  Artists can’t tour, so they have to make money by releasing live performances or new material.  And since we are all at home I guess they have a ready audience!
