what amplification are you running with your Dynaudio Heritage Specials?

I've used my HS's with a Luxman 550axMarkII, a Luxman LX-380 integrated tube amp, the Cronus Magnum III and a Musical Fidelity 6si. To my tastes the 550 and the MF6si sound fantastic although the LX-380 is close. I sold the CMIII and just acquired an Audio Research i50 which I plan on trying after some air time with the Devore Super Nines.

The STR is tough to beat in that price range with their built in room correction, its an uber handy tool.

@drubin - That’s a great question. In my experience, I never could get the HS to really sing at lower volume with any of those other amps. I once tried them with the Luxman 509 amp, which matches the power of the Gryphon, but felt the combination was too bright. 
 

So to answer your question, the Gryphon Diablo 120 does make the HS play well at medium and lower volumes. I don’t feel like I need to crank things up to get the beauty of the speaker. 
 

This journey of diving into audio has been an adventure. The first thing I bought were the Dynaudio Heritage Special speakers. For awhile, I regretted not purchasing a higher sensitivity speaker. Paired with the Gryphon I have no desire to seek or upgrade. For the record, I’ll keep my QLN Prestige 3 speakers and drive them with the Conrad Johnson Classic 120 and switch that system in every few months, but it’s hard to beat the synergy of the HS with Gryphon. 

@bluethinker relative to the other amps you’ve tried, is the success of this pairing with the 120 evident at low- to mid-level volume, or only (or mainly) at higher volume levels?

Old thread but recently purchased a used demo Gryphon Diablo 120 integrated. I’ve had a pair of Dynaudio Heritage speakers for a few years and have tried pairing them with Luxman, Pass, Rogue, Audio Hungary and Conrad Johnson amps. 
 

Without question, the Gryphon Diablo 120 is far and away the best pairing. While yes, the Dynaudio Heritages will work with lower watt and lower current amps, they don’t really open up in my humble opinion. That said, once driven with a quality high watt and high current amp, I think you see what the designers intended to realize. 
 

The Gryphon and HS are a superlative pairing. 

I've been running a Coda integrated for the last 18 months or so, and it's a great combo.  Coda has had a price increase recently, so new will be out of the $5k range but if you can find one used you wont be disappointed.  

I never heard the combo, but had a good customer running his Heritages with a  Sugden A21SE and he absolutely loved the pairing.  

It all depends on the room and listening volume, but I wouldn't use the term overkill by any means.  I'd love to see Nelson update their integrated range, and yes to more black models with that blue dial.

I have the Confidence 20 which are a step above in every aspect in my opinion. I have to agree on Gryphon being an excellent choice but the 300 is well over 20k....too much amp for that speaker in terms of cash.Maybe used with the new model out you could get one for 10k? Or less,don't know.Im using  pass int60...The int 250 is overkill that your speakers ..You can get a used int60 for 6k use it 3 or 4 years and recoup most your investment. ..Pass and Dynaudio have always been musical together. 

I have to agree with @cbrez the HS don’t need high wattage, but they are a speaker that can scale up to its amplification. More then any other speaker I’ve tried, they do a great job revealing the subtle characteristics of it’s amplification. With my tube amp I noticed it sounds better with 25 watts triode then 45 watts ultra-linear so it’s definitely not about the watt count. Room size also matters, I have mine in a medium sized room and think they’re perfect. Of the YouTube videos I’ve seen, not that this is an accurate way to judge, but I was really impressed by the Gryphon/HS combo. That’s going to be on my list of things to try one day. That and the INT250. I also heard them paired with a Hegel 590 and I’ve never heard the Hegel sound better. So that’s another brand worth trying. We are kinda talking amongst ourselves however as OP has moved on from the Heritage.

Pass XA25. I've read plenty about how the Heritage Specials need a high wattage amp, but the XA25 in my room does everything I need. Completely musical and transparent. I have a Linear Tube Audio Microzotl pre and the dynamics are also wonderful.

A Dynaudio dealer told me that the best amp they have had on the Dynaudios was a Diablo 300…..and they are not a Gryphon dealer.

I’m happy with an ARC VSi75 and a REL sub.  For solid state, I use a Hegel H190 which sounds very nice.  I didn’t need the power of upper level Hegels.

My friend is running a Hegel H390 and it seems a perfect match for them (in that 5k price range). He got the idea from other owners of the Heritage also using this combination.

Running mine with a Pass 250 integrated. Glorious midrange and deep bass. Nice upgrade from my special 40’s, which are awesome speakers.

I'm hanging on to my RME as it serves as a great preamp/dac in the event I go power amp instead of integrated

I'm using Van Alstine DVAM225 monoblocks - amazing amps (read the rave reviews).  They are a great match with a Luxman c900u pre and Bricasti M21 source all driving the Dynaudios.

• I have the Boulder 866 running my Heritage Specials and its a match made in heaven.   The Hertiage Specials need lots of current and quality watts.  If the Boulder fits in your budget it is a must audition.  The Hertiage went to another level with the Boulder.  Feed them well and you will be rewarded. 

I use a Supernait 2 mostly and a Willsenton R8 for winter.
