We are being flooded by headphone ads

Over the past few weeks I've noticed a huge influx of oblique discussions about headphones, often Sennheisers.  I'm getting a little tired of it.

It's clearly meant to generate discussion about headphones, but placed in areas besides headphones.  The guy who allegedly has ear pain without them, the several people looking for changes from brand x... all of them with accounts newly minted.

Having just rented an AirB&B on the upper west side of Manhattan, I reflected that there was no way that I could enjoy my system at a volume that I considered acceptable.  A headphone system would be the only acceptable alternative.  They are also much cheaper and easier on the living space than our systems.  Now, I can't really stand having something on my head or in my ears for more than 1 hour, but, not to mention the hole in the head soundstage issue, but for many others the logic is compelling

I have separate 2-channel and headphone systems, and have about the same amount invested in each. I enjoy them both immensely.

We had the same thing for a while with audioengine speakers. I think it is subliminal advertising, probably by bots. AI has arrived.

PS  thanks for pointing it out. I'll quit answering them.

PS - I don't mean users who have been here a while and ask questions about their headphone systems too.  I'm specifically talking brand new accounts that somehow have to bring up certain brands.

In the past I would have said we're being flooded with headphone ads because headphones are more affordable than speakers (used to be), but current headphone prices are mind numbingly high. Ridiculous.

I am only surprised at ANYONE who thinks that this was NOT the next phase of Music evolution. With the Onset of  'STREAMING', modern telephones and Wi-Fi just about anywhere, I would expect nothing different. I know I just got a pair of B&W earbuds and now I don't have to mess with BS wires while sitting in places like the VA Medical center waiting for an appointment. My only problem is that I am TOO CHEEP to pay for a data plan on mu phone so I am bound to Wi-Fi and often that forces me to listen to a downgraded music stream due to limited bandwidth, but anyone wiht data, especially 5g should have no problem getting Hi-def music just about anywhere. The headphones only make your experience that much better.

Sorry my original posting wasn't clear enough.

I don't mind lots of headphone discussions.  What I mind is seeming botness of discussions that appear from multiple brand new members of A'gon oddly focused on 1 brand of headphones.

Honestly this isn't just headphones anymore.  Recent discussion about a subwoofer manufacturer (who I am a fan of) was really just a covert ad.

I'm sorry, again, I'm being so very unclear.  @curiousjim

I don't mean literal ads.  I mean ads masquerading as discussion topics.

Eric, I think you are on to something.

Market manipulation. Consumer habits have been studied for years.

For the last 10 to15 years everything you read and look at on the net has been parsed and studied by huge companies like Google, Microsoft and Meta.

I am suspicious as to who/whom may be behind this. For a price we can launch

you and your brand to sudden fame and fortune.
