Congrats Earl glad you're so happy with your new amp!
The Hungarian is here and staying for ever.
So you all may have seen my review I am only going to say this.
The Audio Hungary Qualiton X 200 is staying and will be here for a long, long time.
It is replacing my Simaudio 600 V2 and I am not looking back.
This tube integrated amazes me with it's sound stage, detail, depth, breadth, speed and flexibility with all genres.
No it is not your typical Asian eBay amazon syrup cheap tube amp.
Step up and try real tubes in a real integrated.
Just saying this is real world gear not crap hyped up by Sterophile or the other rags.
KT170 took this thing to an all new level.

@timrvt -- I heard the a20i a few weeks ago. I was so impressed that I decided to order the a50i since my speakers are not particularly high efficiency. While I did not get a chance to listen to X200, my understand from talking to a couple of dealers is that they are sonically more similar than different. The a20i being pure class A will obviously offer the typical virtues of that class. It is going to have better midrange and high frequency response (sweeter), but the X200 will give you better dynamics and slam and can drive pretty much any reasonably efficient speaker. Of course this doesn’t mean the X200 lacks in midrange qualities, but from what I hear the a20 is just a little better but at the expense of dynamics. You can’t go wrong with either. |
I would try to keep an open mind while listening but all those circuit boards in each of the three iterations of the AH integrated give me pause. My experience is that tubes, circuit boards, and push pull negative feedback a la Audio Research can be good if you don't mind then sounding like solid state designs and that if you are going to go pure fundamental tube with no negative feedback, you need excellent trannies, simplistic circuits, and P2P. There are no absolutes in audio and these are just my general biases, your mileage may well vary. |
@wig 12W A @8ohm or follow the link for all specs. https://www.atelier13-usa.com/audio-hungary-qualiton |
little less useful is the paean to an individual gadget, without comparison. How’d it stack up against a Prima Luna Evo 200? Or a McIntosh? Or even a Ming-da? For tubelovers.. LOL apples and oranges. I have owned them all and this by far is the best tube integrated I have ever owned. Now is it the end all? Hope not. |
Here's a great review: https://www.monoandstereo.com/2021/05/audio-hungary-qualiton-x200-integrated.html |
@chorus. Not exactly the same the the LM and the X200 not even close. Audio Hungary is serviced by https://www.atelier13-usa.com/audio-hungary-qualiton in Nashville, America. |
@wig Audio Hungary and ParTime Audiophile beg to differ. https://audiohungary.com/product/apx-200/17 https://parttimeaudiophile.com/2020/07/17/audio-hungary-qualiton-apx-200-vacuum-tube-stereo-power-am... Earl. |
@ earlflynn Thanks for the info, just preparing myself so when the time comes can jump in with both feet : ) Here what the reviewer said " It also has an additional unbalanced and switchable input that routes to a front panel volume pot for use in a single source system without the need for a separate preamplifier. I tried it and it sounds great being fed directly from a phono stage". I’m on the fence as I do a lot of low listening and don't know if the Eq on the X200 would be a benefit to me or the cheaper APX200 used as an amp? I already have a great DHT Pre : ) Wig |
@ earlflynn You have been a big help as I thought out loud! I’m still mulling over the reviewers comments that the Pass was more dynamic sounding as many other reviewers and friends has noted Pass as being warm in its sonic nature especially when compared to Coda. I sold my Coda Amp after a months use, my Luxman mq-88uc was way more transparent and resolving and hopefully the AH will be the same. Wig 👍 |
