@jaybe You're talking about ATR Magnetics. They still make cassettes. Their tape is good- we use it in our studio.

Most cassette machines these days will need new belts and pinch rollers to be reliable as well as tires on the take-up and supply spindles.

RAmazon has new 5 packs of Maxell cassettes for a pretty low price. They appear to be brand new as they can be purchased in quantities.

It's a Nak Cassette Deck 1 Limited. The only silver deck I’ve ever owned, matches my other stuff.

Deck was just serviced by the previous owner, but looking for service provider in case I should have any issues down the road.

@jaybe If you can, ask the previous owner if the power supply filter capacitors were replaced. Any cassette machine is old enough these days that these parts should be replaced if the machine is to be reliable. If they fail, they can take the power transformer with them.

@mingles Thanks for link. Needed a repair service to go over my deck for awhile.

@atmasphere  They were not. I believe it was just a clean and check/replace rollers and belts, so it was just the minimum.

I'd love to send it for a complete check, but I have no clue what that might cost. Any idea on that?

This deck was made for only 1 year, 1991. The non-Limited version is the same and was made 1990-1993. Far as I know the only difference was the silver color and the Limited badging.

A checkout shouldn't be expensive.

If sorting out the power supply I'd expect $200 might be pretty close.

Willy Herman will only do partial overhaul if you are a new client. This might cost close to $1k and you would have to wait for a year or so.

The tech at Holt Hill went thru my Nak before sale. They are on East Coast. My Revox is at Vintage Audio in Burbank now… first time i’ve had them go thru a deck…so i’m reluctantly mention….
