Puron Plug-In AC Power Conditioner; Impressions 😁

Over the past 4 months, I kept seeing threads about Puron, but never clicked on the posts as I didn’t really have a clue what they were, and I was so enamored in the performance I was getting with my Swiss Digital Fuse Boxes! Another reason the thread didn’t catch my attention, was I had already implemented a top-notch power line conditioner and this device took my system to a height unimaginable; reducing floor noise to pitch-black backgrounds and rendering ambiance and decay information effortless.

Curiosity got the best of me, and I just had to see what this device was all about… I thought to myself, surely there is nothing out there that can make my pitch-black backgrounds even blacker.

After reading a few threads about Puron and responses from a few fellow Audiophile buddies, I was surprised and elated that Mark from VERA-Fi Audio had come out with another cutting-edge product based upon science. I did a little more homework to determine the consensus on which positions these Puron devices needed to be plugged into.

I reached out to Mark again, who has been Amazing and Generous with his time in explaining some of the attributes of the Puron Plug-In AC Power Conditioner. I knew from that moment, that I would order 2 Puron devices so that I could rule out the possibilities of a blacker background and if this was even a thing?

Shortly after my conversation with Mark, I received shipment notification that the devices were on their way; That’s Top-Notch Customer Service and Lightning-Fast Shipping!

I received the Puron Plug-In AC Power Conditioners and plugged one into the first position of my line conditioner and had my initial listening observation with just 6 hours of use and from my readings, 24+ hours is when this device really starts to excel. I wished I would have read those Puron threads 4 months ago.😊😊

I searched my streaming device (Wood Cabinet) for a few of those silver shiny devices that spins by way of a CD Transport. Cued up some tracks of the music I typically listen to and primarily resolves around acoustic instruments. Did my black background become more blacker? You bet and my ears could not believe what they were hearing. The music took on another level of dimensionality, the sound became fuller, more clarity/warmth, tighter image focus, soundstage became deeper/wider and my Loudspeakers which were already holographic took on another level of Chameleonism. (I made that up) 😆

Still shaking my head, I decided to add the second Puron to my main receptacle feeding my line conditioner and the second Puron took things even further which is quite mind boggling; the sound stage became even wider and deeper, but the sound became more Life-Like. The acoustic guitar occupied a space that was so convincing and realistic that you could reach out and touch… I wasn’t just hearing the neck of the guitar but the body as well; the tone and resonance of the guitar was so beautiful and the Puron allowed the notes to swell and project toward the listener with speed, impact, clarity and the decay and ambiance retrieval were exemplary.

The reduction in floor noise and clarity was obvious upon install but as you begin to listen to more tracks, you start to notice more of the instruments body, a much more open soundstage with more light being shined behind the corners of the Loudspeakers, nuances of texture and solidity of image focus, mimics the event of a live performance…

The Purons have been in my system for over 120 hours and all of the attributes listed above remains but now, my system is sounding more refined, better delineations, the strings of the guitar, whether played softly or forcefully, are presented with greater separation, clarity and with distinction; you can almost feel the emotions of the performer…There is a feeling of more space within the soundstage but it’s the layering within the soundstage that must be noted. Each instrument is clearly displayed within its own space and the listener can discern these differences effortlessly without the performer’s notes merging into one another. Sustainment and decay of notes have improved dramatically which lingers and fades into a black hole of silence and aids in the feeling of listening to a live performance.

My dealings with Mark at VERA-Fi Audio have been “Outstanding” and look forward to more products that comes down the audio pike. I can say without hesitation that I wholehearted Recommend that you try these Puron Plug-In AC Power Conditioners in your system; you won’t be disappointed 😁

Yes, same experience both purons in adjacent unused outlets. One outlet feeding a PI Uberbuss.

Just for clarity, when I had the 2 Puron, one was plugged on the first dedicated outlet that feeds the power conditioner, while the other one was in the second dedicated outlet that powers the audio server. Both are 20 Amp outlets.

I had to take out the Puron from the second outlet that powers the audio server, to retain the glory brought by the first one.

@tom2015 ,

Unfortunately I have to agree with you on installing 2 Puron in the system. The first 2 days after I installed the second Puron in my system, it sounded lush and pretty good. But after that it felt I was missing something. After 4 days in the system, I removed the second one (the night I completed the listening session and retired to bed). So came back the next day after 20+ hours and listened again. And everything sounded fantastic with 1 Puron. Just to make sure, it was not a placebo, I removed the only one and waited for 60 minutes before listening to the same song. And obviously the magic was gone. So plugged the one Puron back in place and retired to bed. Came back the next night and listened to the same song. It was pure bliss. It was a week night and yet I was hooked till 12:30AM.

 I searched the Puron threads on Audiogon and found that there was another user who has the Inakustik power conditioner in his system who had the same experience like me. He too added a second one and did not like the way his system sounded.
Anyway, a single Puron is an excellent addition to my system and I cannot go back to not having it in my system. It beats me that some posters cannot hear any difference when they installed Puron in their systems.

I will use the other Puron in my secondary system that is also our living room system with a flat screen.

The Purons are great for the TV or projector. A must have.

I used 2 for music and took one back out the other night and actually found the presentation more enjoyable. The second took too much treble out for me. Could be called relaxing the sound. Interesting that others here use 2 or more per line.

Would be curious on your feedback @benzman . You have a well sorted system. So wonder what changes the Puron might bring.

Just ordered 2 Purons to go along with the HF 0.5 that I already have. Did not notice a huge uptick with the 0.5 but I have all new dedicated circuits with dual ground rod etc. Wasnt hurting so I just kept them anyways. Hoping for a little more from the Purons.
So I will put one in the first position on my PSM 156 which currently has a HF and the other in the wall of the same 20 amp circuit? I will play around with them but would like to get a good start and they are breaking in etc. After  playing around with directional fuses it goes from fun to a pain in the ass.
Thinking about taking the HF and putting them in the power strip of router and switch. Maybe I will get a little bump there.

I have now had the two Purons installed for over 100 hours, and I am very surprised at the improvement in my system.  The most noticeable effect for me is the improvement in the width of soundstage and the placement of the instruments within it.  At first, I thought that the improvement was merely because I was listening to more well-recorded music, but as I put on more poorly recorded music, the improvement in the soundstage was still evident!  To my ears, the instruments sound more balanced between left and right.  All said, for me this is a great tweak that really improved my system.  Doesn’t make much sense, I suppose, but it is not a subtle improvement!

@philjolet ,

Yes, I know what you mean. I am in a house with dedicated 20amp lines and I am not returning the Puron. It brought a bit more of the following 3Cs in my system - Clarity, Correctness and Cohesiveness. And that bit is very much noticeable.

I recently added a Puron to my system's room and could not be happier. The improvement is so great that I am reluctant to share it with you guys because it would be unbelievable. I just think that being in an apartment building there is a lot of grudge in the signal path. One of the best improvements for $250 I can imagine.

Like others, I've had great results with Purons plugged into unused outlets of dedicated AC lines and the first position of Puritan PSM156 conditioners across three stereo systems.

The biggest improvement I've heard is in the recording studio (Michael Greene tunable room); 60A dedicated sub panel, 10AWG dedicated AC line into another Puritan PSM156 conditioner. Remarkable improvement, easily heard through ATC SCM20ASL Pro mkII active studio monitors.

@richmon

Thank you for your kind words. 😊 When I find something that is economical and hit way above its price-point, I try to inform my Audiophile buddies of a product that may yield a positive impact in their system.

Good to hear you are enjoying your system with those awesome Purons.

Wig

Primarily based on the rave online reviews, I recently purchased 5 Puron filters to use across my two HiFi systems.  In both systems, I noticed more ease and naturalness to the sound.  It's something you can't adequately describe unless you hear it for yourself.

My TV is also located in the same room as my family room system.  The most surprising benefit was how much my picture quality improved.  Sharper imaging and brighter colors were readily noticeable within 24 to 48 hours.  It was comparable to getting a new TV.  I have also experienced much greater clarity in television dialogue through my A/V receiver.

On a final note, Walter at Underwood was a pleasure to deal with when ordering the Puron filters.  I would happily do business with him again.

When a poster with Wig’s credibility is impressed with a lower cost tweak, I took notice.

Have a dedicated 20Amp line, boutique outlet, premium power cords, PPT mats and contact enhancer, Puritan PSM136 power conditioner with ground master and seperate ground rod. Thought my noise floor and black background was fairly well set.

Added 2 Puron’s, one to the boutique outlet, one to the first position of the PSM136. .

Very impressive improvement, images more clearly defined, bigger soundstage, yada yada. Possibly the best bang for buck improvement in cleaning up my power and I'm on a power grid with very few houses and a new electric panel.

Adding on more Puron , like Wig said it made the sound more smoother , more air and  more  refined.Two Puron with furutech pin and one HF MC 0.5 connected to my wisdom ES 10 power strip .

The MC-0.5 Power Conditioners also work well in conjunction with the Puron which I believe was already stated earlier.

I agree every system is different. So far this q45T has not failed me.I will update with the result.I usually I put thin amount on one side only .

@jayctoy I tried Q45t on one Puron and compared to another one without and on my system I could not distinguish a SQ difference. Maybe your system will be different. Good luck with it and let us know if you hear a difference. Cheers!

In a week I will apply HF NPS q45T on the Puron pin see what happen. I still have left over from this enhancer.

Tksteingtabber And Wig thanks again.Today I connnected my Puron and High Fidelity MC 0.5 to my HF MC 6 power this combo is even better.

@jayctoy

The SDFB is another Outstanding product! Much better than ALL the boutique fuses I have on hand; more clarity, dimensionality, better layering and a refinement in the overall sound quality.

Wig

@jayctoy I have a HFC MC-1 Pro hooked up with 2 purons and play well together. Sounds best with all together on the same line. I have 1 puron in my conditioner and the others in the duplex.

Mark’s products and his partners are fantastic.  Great products for reasonable if not low prices for their product performance. Super nice and trusted guy as well.   I am a very happy customer of 4- Purons, 2- Core Ground Zeros, Swiss fuse box and the insanely good LSA Warp 1 class-D power amp.   Look forward to the future👍

@jayctoy the swiss fuse box is a big step up from standard and Audio fuses.  Mine replaced a QSA yellow fuse in a tube Surpatek preamp.  Easy set-up and very noticeable SQ improvement.  Highly recommend it.

Yes Mark is a wonderful human being and is producing some very wonderful products. I look forward to what the future will bring from Mark and Verafiaudio. God Bless.

Wig I agree Mark bring good stuff here.I also think they design speakers and they are the one who design  Core power technology power conditioner? Wig how does the digital fuse works?

I inserted High Fidelity MC 0.5 next to the Puron the result is spectacular music did have impact and more involving.My system likes this combo.

@jayctoy

Yes, an ear opening experience for sure... Mark at Vera-Fi Audio is bringing Top-Tier components that are hitting Way above their price point!

Wig😊

Wig like you I inserted one of my Puron to my reference system where the background is already blacker? I doubt it will improve my system black background.My jaw drop in disbelief.

Wig  Ive been in this hobby for 35 yrs I never experienced this kind of system improvements Iam getting from Puron.I feel like I bought expensive gear that performs.Its only four hours my system is already transform . Wig and Mark from verafiaudio, Lak thank you all.

@jayctoy

That’s great to hear! You will hear more refinement and nuances after a week of burn-in/settling. 👌

Wig

Wig Iam hearing most of the accolades you describe on your thread.No compression on the music at all.Mark thanks.

I just received my Puron with gold furutek . I only put one....They look mice..2 hrs playing.. I can hear the sound difference for the better. Will update later.

I now have several across three stereo systems. Worthwhile improvement in each case.

I know Wig there is many good things about the Puron as you mentioned. My system does have blacker banground already. I want more like what it did to your system. ..I will update as soon as I hear them.

I just ordered my 2 Puron out of curiosity per Wig thread. Mark is easy to work with. They are on the way.

My first location was in one of the AC wall outlets. My second location was in the first outlet of my line conditioner.

I’m interested in hearing from owners of Puron Plug-ins where they ultimately placed their filters for best performance? For now, I have 2 in quad receptacle feeding power conditioner & 2 more in first receptacle of SR Powercell 8SE.

@wig

I’ve had a new Puron with Furutech gold-plated blades for awhile now. Not sure if you’ve already tried it, but I can report that it has a slightly stronger noise floor dropping effect than the original Puron and has little bit of a richer, fuller body sound than the original, but not at a cost of loss of detail. I think it helps reveal slightly more detail.

Good Morning

Just wanting to update this thread and others.

Today we are set to receive our first Purons with Furutech NEMA 15 Blades (US Style) per the request of many of you.

Those interested please contact me.

Thanks – Mark

I’ve had three Puron’s now for a couple of weeks or more with one being on the conditioner the modem/router is plugged into. At first I wasn’t getting the dramatic improvement that most here seemed to be getting and it was almost it kind of snuck up on me where I was slowly hearing improvements in the noise floor and detail.

Like most who have experienced the Puron it does help give separation of instruments and great soundstage. There’s a certain kind of purity to the sound that makes it a winner for me. In fact the most praise I can give a product is when it can covey emotion and musicality to the system to where you can tap your feet and get into a song you’ve heard a million times. I’m tempted to try more and daisy chain them but I’m going to hold off for now as I promised myself I wasn’t going to do that…haha.

Congrats Mark and Lynn on a great product.

@t_ramey

I moved one of my 3 Purons from the power distributor that was plugged into the same wall outlet as my Puritan PSM 156 to the first outlet in the PSM 156 and experienced a noticeable improvement in performance as @wig also stated..

I have posted many times about the benefit of using a Puron in the outlet that the Modem, Router, EtherRegen, AfterDark clock etc. is in.

Streaming quality is definitely improved, providing a larger soundstage.

ozzy

I have one Puron in first position of my PSM156 and I’m liking what I’m hearing thus far as things seem to still be improving. Before I order another I was wondering if anybody streams their music and has placed a Puron where their modem/router is? Most seem to be placing these right at the front of their systems so was curious if any has tried the modem/router, which for me is on the other side of the house.

@t_ramey

Yes and it was the first location I added the Puron, outlet closest to PSM156 20A inlet and a difference indeed.

Wig

@wig  Do you think a Puron would work plugged into a PSM 156? I always thought each receptacle was isolated and therefore it may not benefit the other receptacles if a Puron was plugged in the first position.

Guys,

Good to hear you are experiencing better sound quality with Verafi Audio products; it will even get better with time...😁

Wig 👍
