Anyone wear gloves to handle vacuum tubes?
I believe it was John Harvey Kellogg. @thecarpathian Close, it was Roger Modjeski:   When asked to comment on the subject of NOS verses current production I demur. On cryo treatments I chuckle and on the white gloves I say. "Skip the silly...

Anyone wear gloves to handle vacuum tubes?
Who was it who said: "You can use your bare fingers to handle tubes, just make sure you wipe off the peanut butter first."
Break-in time
After having to re-break in speakers nothing surprises me anymore.  And beyond "break-in" which may take many weeks there definitely is a "settling in" period which may take several days- some claim weeks.  "System equilibrium" is very rewarding...
Send in the Clowns
Unfortunately I had a severe dose of Covid last year and lost my sense of smell., now all wine does largely taste the same to me. Sorry to hear that @laoman , that sucks. They called it covid 19 and 6 years later it is still around. We know som...
Do I need upgraded power cables?
Hello soix. I’m looking into the acoustic zens. Just wondering why you suggested them. And if you don’t mind - what do you think about about Cardas Persecs? They were recommended to me. Thanks @bzawa You need to tag someone by putting the @ in ...
Need to learn about Audio Research
@rubiconmike Check on hifishark search the unit, click on sold/expired and that will tell you the prices others have listed it for. The fellow from this ad likes to look at his Jeff Rowland gear so much he had to have it in the background in ev...
Do sound characteristics matter when moving from midfi to hifi?
As I read the pluses/minuses of each piece, I wonder if it only matters once you reach a certain level. Hypothetically, if going from Sony, Marantz, Schiit am I going to find something that I don't like about Pass Labs, Conrad Johnson, Coda?  I...
Question for Atma-sphere, will expensive power cables improve your amplifiers?
Several years ago, on Audio Asylum forum a guy built a DIY power cord using CAT5 twisted 4 pair data cable. WOW!. 120Vac. Available short circuit fault current at the wall outlet for a 20 amp circuit could easily be in the hundreds of amps before...
To refurbish Peter Gunn modded Maggie's or not?
I wonder how difficult it would be to transfer over the mods from the gunned ones to another set of 1.6’s? If you could find some 1.6’s in good shape. Definitely would be less expensive than repairing those. The crossover mods wouldn’t be that har...
Bent Audioquest Robin Hood banana plugs
Honestly a bent banana is going to sound the same as a straight one. If you don't mind knowing that it is bent I would do nothing. If visually it annoys you I would straighten it with pliers, putting some fabric between the metal pin and the plier...
Question for Atma-sphere, will expensive power cables improve your amplifiers?
OP suggested Gryphon, here is what one of their manual states: AC Power Cords: Use only a dedicated AC power cord. Do NOT use loudspeaker cable or other wire not expressly designed to carry high current. Improper cable or cables of insufficient ...
Question for Atma-sphere, will expensive power cables improve your amplifiers?
Manufacturer’s really hate getting into the power cord discussions. Occasionally some consumers who argue against the benefits of changing out the power cord supplied with the amplifier like to quote Nelson Pass’ or Roger Russell’s comments from ...
Rush 50 (Anniversary Super Deluxe)
Thanks for the heads up! I haven't looked it up yet but I suppose it is a new production/mastering project.
Need to learn about Audio Research
I have decided SS will be the way to go. Good decision. There are many maggie owners who have had a tube amp on the tweet/mids and a solid state on the bass panels but you don’t have that biamping option with the 3.7’s, not without much more ex...
