How old is too old?
I’d say by 75 you might as well throw in the towel. I golf with a guy who is 79. He shot 76 a few weeks ago, and still has plenty of good moving parts. I’d say he is good for a few years yet.
Basic switch....should I upgrade?
Rising up to the top of my "next itch to scratch" list is the Tempus. 30 day trial -I really hope I have good ethernet, if you know what I mean. But after trying the "cheap" smoothlan and being in disbelief as to what this little thing did, on top...
Basic switch....should I upgrade?
Always nice when OP's update their threads.  And you have what are reported to be the most resilient DAC's regarding switches and filters.
T + A streamers. I need help.
@v-fi  The general consensus (not unanimous) is that Lightning DS makes the music more edgy, lit up, with a focus on detail, while using Roon is more natural, relaxed, organic. Which one is "better" will always depend on your preferences and sys...
I am sick of cables
How much have cables evolved over the past 16 years, when this thread was started. Do people get more bang for their buck? I would definitely assert there are more cable vendors now compared to 16 years ago, many of which sell directly and avoid t...
Brain Farts w/ Roon Nucleus
Honestly, the easiest way to stream your cataloged music, if to have it on a high quality USB disk, plug that into your DAC or streamer. Keep the music separate from your "computer" . This way you can upgrade the chain and not affect all other pa...
T + A streamers. I need help.
Because numerous variables are involved with streamers, software, and hardware, I need to take a slow approach to this. You guys have opened my eyes to the various possibilities. Appreciate your time. I get it. I first read about PGGB about 3 y...
T + A streamers. I need help.
Hey @mgrif104,  Saw one used so decided to snap it up a few weeks back. Always had these memories of how much better some DSD files sounded with my former exaSound DAC compared to "regular" files, so was always curious to try a higher-end dedicat...
T + A streamers. I need help.
There are a few guys with T+A reference streaming DAC's here, hopefully they chime in.  Try Roon; free 14 day trial. The user interface is as good as it gets, and Roon radio can discover many new bands/tracks you never knew existed, it is wonderf...
Six DAC Comparison
Thankfully, like you, neither manufacturer is considering adding the I2S connection and raising the cost of the end products. It is worth mentioning that it was only last year Antipodes developed a USB output they considered worthy of using and s...
Weiss DAC 204 hiccups
Interesting to hear some of you are having issues with your digital handshake between some streamers and the Weiss 204. I didn't know it needed to be sent off for firmware updates, I do know I can perform any firmware updates myself with the 501 b...
Streamer recommendation
^ good answer.  But if you really wanted something smaller, maybe more WAF, with exceptional build quality as it is swiss made, and are okay abandoning the thought above in having to download and learn a new app, have a look at this:  https://ww...
Six DAC Comparison
We certainly could add $1,000 to our MSRP and create an internal clock that will rival (I said "rival" not "beat") the ones in a Jay’s CDT-3 MkIII or the dCS network bridge...but why would we do that when those products already have exceptional c...
To refurbish Peter Gunn modded Maggie's or not?
@chazzy12 Heart attack I heard.
Finally! I Made An Informed Choice
This looks like a good place to research optical connections: https://www.audioshark.org/threads/lumin-x1-fiber-optic-network-discussions.14265/
