New Perlisten S7T Towers
Second question, what percentage off of full retail would you consider fair? And the same question on a expensive Lyngdorf MP60 processor, $14k retail.
Thank you all!
Dave
I see $7500/pair which is more reasonable. I do not like them for several reasons. The checker board design is pure glitz and totally unnecessary. They put a waveguide on the tweeter but not the midrange where it is most important. The directionality of the drivers should be matched as closely as possible. No, I have not heard them and do not care to. My analysis is base on a review of the design. I think Golden Ear makes a better speaker in this price range IMHO. |
I am one of their dealers. Read the review in Audioholics where they say this is the best speaker they have measured to date. Frequency response is flat and they are very natural sounding but with lots of detail. The design uses a Kilppel measurement system to optimize output. There are certainly a lot of great speakers in this price range but these are one of the more impressive options. The only thing that might be more impressive than their speakers is the subwoofers. Dealers are instructed not to discount. Best bet is to trade something in against them. |
Second question, what percentage off of full retail would you consider fair?At this price level the ONLY questions that matter are if they have the sound characteristics that are most important to you personally and if they match well with your existing equipment/room. Everything else is a rounding error, relatively speaking. |
mijostyn- Those "checker board" drivers are SB Acoustics woven TeXtreme mid/bass drivers made with an advanced, super thin carbon fiber fabric- https://www.madisoundspeakerstore.com/approx-6-7-woofers-satori/satori-6-mw16tx-8-textreme-cone-woof...and the tweeter looks like the new SB Acoustics Beryllium wave guide tweeter. |
Had them about 6 months now I am still amazed. They were set up by Dr Matthew Poe’s who will soon be treating my room. im extremely happy with them despite my tinnitus getting a bit worse. Best speakers I’ve ever owned! I highly recommend them. The fit and finish are as good as any I’ve ever seen. I chose the premium ebony gloss finish. Dave |

@yyzsantabarbara I had clicked on the link for this prior to your post being deleted. I assume it was deleted due to the extensive quote from the Audioholics article. My space issue has nothing to do with how the speakers perform. I live (for 35 more days) in an 1100 SF apartment and the speakers are in my dining room. With the sheer volume of equipment I have lying around, I am perpetually running the risk of wife beating me with a very expensive DAC. Equipment is everywhere. If I set the S7Ts up in this apartment, she would be VERY unhappy. The largest speaker I can get away with is the Vivid Kaya 45 and the Wilson Benesch Discovery IIIZs and those were pushing it. We are moving into a much larger space and I will re-assess what I will show and the S7Ts are likely on the list of what I will acquire. That said, I do think that the larger speakers might be fine in a smaller space. The nature of the array makes it shockingly difficult to detect sound coming from separate drivers unless you are dangerously close....say within 2" of the baffle. The S5Ms list for $12,990 for a pair ($6495 each) and the matching stands are $1500. I would have to check stock but they have been getting very regular deliveries and I would expect that you would get them relatively quickly. PM Me if you want to discuss further. |
@verdantaudio Thanks for the insight on these S7t. I know the Vivid Kaya 45 well and was thinking of getting it but the side firing woofers made me reluctant for the small space I use in the office. I believe there is also a new floor stander called S5t that is also being released, which would interest me more. I am going to see if I can move my Thiel CS3.7's to my son's Playroom / Livingroom without my wife noticing. It is not very pretty after I refurbished and painted this formerly broken and used speaker, but it sounds great now. If you demo the PerListen in the Bay Area. please send me a note by DM. I am planning to make my regular pilgrim to the Bay Area now that COVID is cooled off. .
