The Highest - Suprema
I almost went to the same show but got tied up with the kiddos. I have shopped with them before when I was interested in Wilsons.    I wonder if the subs were highpassed. I know there is a good bit of flexibility in how they can be setup. Good su...
JBL M2 Vs 4367
I have not heard the M2 but own the 4367…. So peanut gallery comments below.    Since these speakers use the same drivers I think the biggest difference will be the dispersion pattern. The 4367 is a good bit narrower than the M2 due to horn patte...
how to run three subs from one lfe jack
I am sure there is something in the pro world for running powered speakers that would work. Maybe call sweet water and ask them. Some active crossovers will let you run 3 subs with active gain output (preamp). Sublime acoustics is a good example....
External crossovers for subs
Jastraflu, The subs internal is just a low pass. To better integrate and take full advantage of the sub a highpass is added to the speaker. The active crossovers are doing both highpass and low pass. I have messed around with just using a low...
External crossovers for subs
Whether you filter the speakers low frequency with and internal or external crossover. It is more or less the same results assuming all things are done correctly. But for proper integration you either have to high pass the mains or low pass the su...
Subwoofers
my first sub question is always, how do you plan to hook them up and do you plan to highpass?    If you can get past the looks the JTR RS1 the best sub I personally have heard that are not diy monsters. Their lowest low pass setting is 60hz… so k...
Speakers that disappear
Most comments in this thread are correct and setup is key. I will add low defraction designs will help too. I am not too much into stand mount speakers and I can’t not recommend anything but speakers with round smooth surfaces and narrow faces wil...
Upgrade from Revel 228be?
I upgraded from the 228be (I also use two subs) to a pair of JBL 4367s. I should note I liked Revel over a lot of other good brands and after many demos stuck with the Revel/sub combo before moving to the JBLs   I have a number of posts about th...
Best Sounding L/R Speakers for DVD/BD Movie Sound? > $4K/pair
I think beryllium gets a bad rap because the tweeters are often elevated to highlight them. But really the material self damps and has far less ringing than other materials. Revel’s tweeter/tuning is super smooth and a hair rolled off if anything....
Best Sounding L/R Speakers for DVD/BD Movie Sound? > $4K/pair
Speakers from Harman are real easy to listen to due to them having a drop of about 5db from bass to treble. They are detailed still but just an easy listen. I had a pair of 228be and while not by favorite speaker I owned they were outstanding for ...
Toe in is crucial
When I get new speakers I always try no toe in and on axis back to back to see the extremes. I almost always end up somewhere in the middle.
Subwoofer Advice 2
It is readable in the iPhone browser. It looks pretty good. Looks like you could turn up the bass under 60hz a few dB if you have the option. But all in all should sound pretty good.
Borresen X1 & X2
I would like to read more about your Sopra 2 vs X2 comparison when you have time.
Borresen X3 vs Harbeth 40.2 -- my impressions
Helomech,   good feed back. I am not a die hard measurements guy either but most of the speakers I really like also measure pretty well. I think it is an important starting point and then quality of the drivers/build matters too. I will be inter...
Is there Tannoy Magic / Should I buy a pair of Tannoys as "accessory" speaker?
I have a little experience with the smaller Tannoys and also own the 4367. I feel tannoy would be a backwards move for me. I think point sources are a bit over rated (having owned a few) if you sit in a tweaked out sweet spot. The advantage is the...
