I would be turned off to it just based on the stupid name.
Mad Scientist Audio Speaker Cable
I had another discussion going about either to go with Nordost or Audioquest speaker cable but I came across Mad Scientists Audio Ultra Magic Speaker cable. Steve Huff compared it to Nordost Valhalla 2 and found they are equal to them with lot less money. Has anyone bought these and what does the audiophile community think about these cables?
I have read some really good things about this company from down under, and they have been making some quality cables for some time, I haven’t yet tried any myself but read plenty of good reviews. Having said that I think Huff says whatever will get him plenty of hits and views. One thing is for sure, if these Mad Scientist cables were sold through a dealer they would be twice as expensive as they are. 30 day money back guarantee- try them and let us know! |
If there any warranty , audition policy ? Even the best Nordost like the $$ oden or Valhalla is to all likings ,very detailed vp but can be too neutral in some systems the mad scientist tends to use Graphene in a lot of products which presents a warmer signal , trade offs ,your taste in your system is what counts most. |
Bob, the Mad Scientist, is a very decent guy. I met him four years ago. Dropped into his place. Had a good chat. Listened to his system. Have had his USB, Black Magic. Upgraded to Black Magic Ultra, and now to Black Magic Gold. Also have two Black Magic, and four Black Magic Ultra power cables. He makes mighty fine cables! The cable title of 'Black Magic' is named after the 1995 New Zealand yacht that won the America's Cup from Dennis Conner. |
@dougthebiker:Don’t buy anything you can’t try in your own system and return if you don’t like it. +1 when purchasing from a dealer. One time, an individual allowed me to audition an integrated for 5 days. But that’s only because he lives nearby. I loved it and bought it. Used gear from an individual and with a return policy is pretty sweet. |
"the sounds is equal to Nordost Valhalla." "one idea was that the speaker and cable can act as a giant antenna and send that RF back into the amplifier, so this lead to idea of a “bad antenna” design to minimize pickup (and also transmission)" So what’s your design idea to minimize this so called antenna effect from speaker to cable to amp? I’m a professional electrical engineer so educate me if you could. Keep in mind that audio cables are a ’passive’ component. Out of curiosity I checked the website found it’s full of pseudoscience jokes. BTW what's "Nitro Nano" "Speaker Kegs"? Presumably just like other cable resellers like Nordost you buy or import cables and resell them (after adding funny thing slike 'kegs' and braided sleeves to make them look substantial/premium. I suggest you come up with measurement data to back up your claims when you sell them for thousands of dollars. Wish you all the best.
