What kind of government will torture you if you say it is evil?
Jazz for aficionados
I'm going to review records in my collection, and you'll be able to decide if they're worthy of your collection. These records are what I consider "must haves" for any jazz aficionado, and would be found in their collections. I wont review any record that's not on CD, nor will I review any record if the CD is markedly inferior. Fortunately, I only found 1 case where the CD was markedly inferior to the record.
Our first album is "Moanin" by Art Blakey and The Jazz Messengers. We have Lee Morgan , trumpet; Benney Golson, tenor sax; Bobby Timmons, piano; Jymie merrit, bass; Art Blakey, drums.
The title tune "Moanin" is by Bobby Timmons, it conveys the emotion of the title like no other tune I've ever heard, even better than any words could ever convey. This music pictures a person whose down to his last nickel, and all he can do is "moan".
"Along Came Betty" is a tune by Benny Golson, it reminds me of a Betty I once knew. She was gorgeous with a jazzy personality, and she moved smooth and easy, just like this tune. Somebody find me a time machine! Maybe you knew a Betty.
While the rest of the music is just fine, those are my favorite tunes. Why don't you share your, "must have" jazz albums with us.
Enjoy the music.
rok , check this out . Was in Army hospital in Japan for a month and was 50/50 if I ever would walk out . Guy next to me was a Navy Gunners Mate E-6 , don’t ask me why he was in Army Hospital, who was close to deaths door . Head Nurse of the joint was rough old Lt. Col. who was strictly business .She fell in love with the Sailor and married him as soon as he was released ! I was told the powers that be said she could not do that and she said" watch me " . Day before I was released the Head of the biggest American Protestant Association came through talking to the wounded , I looked at him and somehow thought I knew the face . When he got to me he shook my hand and it just came out my mouth, "Are you from Syracuse " . He looked at me and asked my surname . Then said" I married your parents and baptized you ’" The kicker was the Col. running the hospital and showing him around who I had never seen , nor he me , blurted out that I was one of his best patients. Typical Army . Don't eat to much today or you'll be late for Reveille tomorrow . Cheers |
Sadly, poverty is a vital part of capitalism. It's the great motivator. Imagine a country where the government promised and actually made sure everyone was in the middle class. Then imagine one where everyone was in the middle class and no one richer than the middle class. By government decree. Equal men aren't free and free men aren't equal. Nature's law. Cheers |
For some of us who skipped history class...:p "The German economist and philosopher Karl Marx is sometimes mistakenly characterized as an egalitarian and a proponent of equality of outcome and the economic systems of socialism and communism are sometimes misconstrued as being based on equality of outcome. "Equality" in a communist society is thus not about total equality or equality of outcome, but about equal and free access to the articles of consumption. Marx argued that free access to consumption would enable individuals to overcome alienation." |
Well Rok, we got the rulers in Pyongyang, Beijing, Phnom Penh, Moscow, Hanoi and even Zagreb. I guess they're all communists, any "Socialists"? What about "labor unions"? What about those who are considered to be in the "Radical left wing"? What about those who are considered to be "Liberals"? What about your next door neighbor, have you checked on him? |
rok , you don’t have imagine a country where population is middle class and every single citizen has enough .Just buy a ticket to Denmark , happiest country in the world . And it is very Capitalist . There has never been a Socialist country , a Dictator calling it one don’t make it one . The greatest socialist act in human history is the 20 trillion $ US Capitalism transfer from private loss to public debt of same in last decade . P.S . In a Presidential election Electoral College insures that a 100 votes in TX are less than 1 in Ohio . Only Republic in History with one . Or dumb enough to . Back to tunes please , last thing of this nature I’ll post , Game is over , we lost , end of story . |
the dark stain is Denmark. https://www.mylifeelsewhere.com/country-size-comparison/united-states/denmark cheers |

***** but about equal and free access to the articles of consumption***** "What does that mean? And why does it take a communist system to achieve it. I’ll be as short as possible. And I have no desire to continue discussing this theme. This should be sufficient as the answer: Definition of Communism. “Communism (from Latin communis, "common, universal") is a philosophical, social, political, and economic ideology and movement whose ultimate goal is the establishment of a communist society, which is a socioeconomic order structured upon the ideas of common ownership of the means of production and the absence of social classes, money, and the state.” In short: classless, moneyless, stateless. Fact: It never existed. Important: Communism is not about people living like in a tribe, going up and down all dressed up the same, smiling the same, sharing the same food, living in the same tents, holding each other with hands, singing age of aquarius and stuff like that. It is about the most modern society you can think of, highly advanced society in modern technologies – it’s the society so advanced and productive (only in societies like this, this can be achievable) that setting up the prices for the goods and paying for them would make no sense. What’s is the point in a price battle or in buying stuff if everyone has all? Example: I am sure that few shoes factories in China for instance (being so damn productive), would already now satisfy the need for all kinds of shoes here in my entire country. They can produce so many shoes that we could easily enjoy in all kinds of them. But nobody will give them to us for free. In fact, if the factory has the production surplus, it will rather destroy the goods than place it on the market with low price or God forbid, give it away for free. Reason is simple, no profit out of that. There is your answer. It is in the earning of the profit and preserving the private interest. A profit earner obviously does not want that equality in consumption. Thanks to profit, he will be rich as hell, you stay poor and work in the stinky factory, ‘cause somebody has to work for it. You will be brainwashed with all kinds of bullshits, just to be kept away from using your head by thinking of the freedom and better society. And the only freedom that you will have - will be to choose who will exploit and use you. But you will be surely exploited and used. (In a more cheerful way of saying, you will be surely fuc***.). In the former Yugoslavia, we had the beginnings of this system of equality. We had ideas that where foundations for a system like that. Like nowhere in the world. Of course, that had to be stopped. And it stopped. In a bloody war. We were too greedy and too stupid to preserve what we had and too weak to prevent what was about to happen. You see, my dear, these ideas of equality are far dangerous than any terrorism. You may kill, rob, destroy, torture other human being, but that’s no biggie in comparison to the existence of the ideas of equality in a modern slave mind.
Now back to turkey theme. :--)) |
In some ways these are the best of times; we have "youtube" and one another, although some of us are oceans apart, we can share our music as if we were in the same room. At this moment I'm listening to "Inflation Blues" submitted by Acman. It's funny how this was recorded in 1972 and it's even more current today. Schubert submitted "Cubana Salsa Jazz Funk"; this is music that's most certainly good for what ails you, it answers the question as to why the Cuban people are so resilient (wish I could speak Spanish). If anyone thinks I'm going to feel animosity toward the Cuban people because they have a different form of government, they got the wrong dude. Pjw submitted similar music, but his didn't have a pretty girl in it; maybe that's why it didn't look as good; oh, I meant sound as good, but I still like Pjw's music. Schubert's music compliments Pjw's music; my imagination sees the pretty girl dancing in Pjw's music now. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BYOORQKXyzQ My sentiments exactly Mary-jo; Communism or Socialism are the reason "America" gives for F...ing with anybody, and everybody all over the planet; oh I forgot "Terrorism", not that you expressed those sentiments about America, but if other people want to run around in the rain naked, I don't see what that's got to do with us. The politicians spend the peoples money on everything except the people. BTW Rok I sing the national anthem and salute the flag every morning. When people stuff crap down your throat every single solitary day, you have to vomit it back up; excuse me. BTW, I know it's worse in the Republic of the Congo. This is the music I've been listening to; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9vTM98WL2Eg&list=RD9vTM98WL2Eg&start_radio=1&t=65 |
Today's Listen: Count Basie & Dizzy Gillespie -- THE GIFTED ONES with Ray Brown and Mickey Roker Liner notes that only The Frogman would love. Written by Joe Pass. Talks about, 3rds and minors and c7-flat-5 on the fifth bar. Who does he think will be reading this stuff? Anyway, the music speaks for itself. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HbkrfWsv2iU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=me_7MvpHm2w https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_rSsSgt6OuQ Cheers |

Sunny Side of The Street: Great CD. I play it often. I look upon Jazz musicians as like a fraternity where people are in and out, with this group and that group and as side men, leaders, just all over the place...... But, Sonny Rollins always seemed to stand out from the crowd. Like he was above the fray. Perhaps someone could discuss Rollins and his place in Jazz. Cheers |
If you like trad Christmas Music this is THE greatest rendition of one of the greatest songs . That is not in English is irrelevant .
