Has anyone actually heard the Dali Epikore 11? Impressions welcome.
I don't get to audio shows often but once long ago I had heard the Dali Helicon 400 and it was truly amazing. Has anyone out there in audio land actually heard the Dali Epikore 11. It looks impressive for the price.
I had the opportunity to hear the Epikore 11 last week. They are very musical, present an enormous soundstage, instrument and voice detail is second to none. I can't say enough good about them!
Currently I own Dali Epicon 8s, and find they possess many of the same qualities, Epikore 11 is a leap forward for Dali. I'm not sure they'll ever fit my budget, but would definitlely love to own a pair of Epikore 11s!
@delpi- Just for clarity there is no DALI Epicure or Epicene series, Their top model is the Kore, then the Epikore 11, and the Epicon series which would include the Epicon 8 which it sounds like is what you have. Glad you're enjoying them!
I've not yet heard the Epicure 11s, but did audition the Epicure. While some may frown on this comment; what steve59 wrote about the 11s, are how I describe my Dali Epicene 8s. Oh so musical, enormous sound stage, and as a musician friend said referring to the instruments, vocals, etc, "Everything is right where it should be!" Dali builds some awesome speakers!!!
I have the Kef Blades at home and listening to the Epikore 11’s, both speakers driven with quality Mac components. I found the Dali’s to have better mid-upper bass that filled out the mids and richened up the sound a bit. The bass is full and articulate, better than the Kore at least in the bass we hear more than feel and resolution is there without being dry because of that awesome midrange. I don’t shop in the $60k loudspeaker price range, but they are musical, played with dynamics using only a watt or 2 of Mac watts and those typically dry digital recordings sounded pretty good. I might compare them to dynaudio with better resolution, but it’s been 20 years since I listened to the Dyn’s. The Epikore 11 should be on everyones demo list just to hear what great speakers are supposed to do right. fanboy
I got to hear my reference playlist on them and was very impressed. They really do it all with no apparent effort. I don’t get that from the other top speakers I have heard, which include comparable models from B&W, Focal, and Wilson. Right now they are the all-round winner for me. I have not heard a more seamlessly integrated multi-way moving coil loudspeaker…ever. Nothing stands out, everything is in balance, with dynamics and liveness intact.
Hi guys was kinda sold on the Focal Mastros or Magico S7 but looks like a new player in the game! Anyone hear all three or two? How's the bottom end compare between these three? That's huge to me it sure looks and sounds like the Dali wins the mids and highs!
The way the 11's sound I agree is comparable to the Kore, but that they need less power to sound dynamic is why I'd choose the Epikore 11 over the flagship speakers If I could pick either pair as my endgame speakers. Now if they threw in a couple Mc1.25's or better suited room with the Kore I might have a different answer.
Spent a few hours with the Epikore 11 yesterday. They’re stellar. Heard them with powered via 3 different amps: Bluesound, Anthem STR, and MA 12000. It didn’t matter much how they were powered, it was a treat to listen to them. They present a huge variety of music exactly the way i want to hear it. I don’t think i found a track, genre, band etc.. that I didn’t love through them. I’ll need to A/B with the Kore (my all-time favorite) to pick a winner. They are that good.
Ok, just got back from listening to the Epikore 11 with a Mac MA 352 driving them. Personally, I like them better than the $110k Kore. We were barely pushing the meters past 2 watts and the sound was impressive. They retail for $60k so I don’t know anyone who can afford them. I actually like these better than the Kore’s because the bass is more dynamic, even with the mc611’s driving the kore they were a little too smooth for me, the epikore at similar volume with a less powerful amp still sounded more lively and they feel (felt) like they went just as deep. Juicy midrange, clean treble that gets the details without spotlighting them. To be fair I only got about half an hour today so didn’t really get to punish them, but they knocked all the demo tracks out of the park. I’ll post more if the thread continues and I get more time with them.
They’re on my shortlist to audition and look gorgeous. I previously spent 5+ hours in 3 separate sessions with the Dali Kore, which are my all-time favorite speaker by a substantial margin. If the Epikore 11 has the same lively presentation (i believe it’s the same mid-range and tweeter as the Kore) it’s going to be one hell of a speaker.
We have them, and they're quite incredible. If you are in the Chicagoland area, you can of course visit -- but anywhere else, I believe they are just shipping pairs out as we speak.
I don't want to wax poetic about them and sound like a brand shill as this is something we sell, so if there is anything you want to know about them, ask away.
I have a local dealer that has the Dali Kore and now the Epikore 11. I'm really enjoying my current system so haven't stopped in yet. If you're anywhere near chicago you can find them.
