Ethernet cable - but which one?

Given the quality of your system you might consider an external linear power supply from LHY, SBooster, or Teddy Pardo to increase the performance of your Vault, or better yet get a used Innuos Zen Mk3.  Just a thought FWIW. 

Any decent quality CAT 6a cable with good quality connectors made of metal not plastic should be a great upgrade from standard CAT 5.

As with all other types of cables, if you don't believe that cost and quality is important, then you'll be shortchanging yourself.  After trying lesser ethernet cables in the past, I run three $2000 each Shunyata Research Sigma ethernet cables in my audio system.  I could have spent less or more on ethernet cables, but the Sigma's did the trick for me, and I feel they were well worth the cost.  There's a multitude of nice ethernet cables out there on the market.  The choice is yours.  Happy listening.      

I use Blue Jeans cable 6A cable made to length with measurements taken for the cable and shipped with the cable.  

Particularly for longer runs. I like WireWorld.  They have three different price tiers and excellent shielding. 

I'm really happy with my Veritas Cables Connexa Ethernet cable. From what I understand it is not the case that CAT 8 sound better than CAT 7 which is better than CAT 6 etc. In fact I have heard from several sources that 7 is not really a great design for audio use. I'm not technical enough to know how true that is but I'm extremely pleased with my Connexa cable regardless. The price is very reasonable for what you get. Veritas also makes a budget Ethernet cable which I've heard good things about too, and it is even more affordable.
