A Suggestion Regarding Removal Of Posts

Three suggestions for providing greater transparency in why certain actions are taken.

When a post is removed from a thread it now reads "Post Removed" followed by the date.  I suggest it should include who the poster was and the reason why the post was removed.

A thread could be terminated, but not removed.  The moderates should be able to stop any new posts from being added to a thread, but the thread should be available for viewing and archived.

Lastly, give the starter of a thread and only the starter the option of removing posts from that thread because they are "Off Topic".  The OP can help by stating right at the start what they consider "Off Topic".  The person who posted the "Off Topic" post can be given the option of staring a new thread.

Just a few thoughts with the intent of making Audiogon More Friendly Again!

I'd say about half of my removed posts, or more, were deleted by me bc on reflection I saw I was misunderstanding or reacting to others with too much anger. I'm glad about the ability to remove them, and in favor of something like, "Removed by poster."

In our new cancel culture I’m sure the moderators relish their jobs to be judge and jury of what is appropriate.  God forbid someone gets their feelings hurt!

One person's "cancel culture" is another person's "call for accountability."

I would certainly agree that privileged dudes with stereo gear should be a bit more resilient, but I've seen some people really cross the boundaries of civility.

Cancel culture is a myth concocted by a bunch of badly behaving crybabies.

Cancel culture is an overhyped meme. Nothing more. Sure, it has a definition replete with a history but it's the flavor of the year for those who refuse to get down to the brass tacks of accountability, responsibility and maturity.

All the best,

Odd:

I've always gathered that "cancel culture" is tuned to popular opinion/voice/vote.

What's wrong with that?

Maybe I'm wrong on this, but I did once petition to keep a certain businesses out of my small city and they never opened up shop here (same end with other small cities within a 12 mile radius as to the very same company/corp).

Some people seem to think they can just say anything on Audiogon and not be judged accordingly.  Using this thread as an example, I as the OP would have nipped all the cancel culture talk right from the get go if what I proposed were implemented.

Thanks for all those who commented.  It never occurred to me that posters were deleting their own posts.
