Vivat, king! Equirhythmic translation...
(the song is usually dedicated to the great master of the stage when he retires or dies)
Vivat, the King!
The world is a stage (Shakespeare said),
Where everyone is playing.
You took the hearts and turned folks' head.
You made them feel elated.
You played with soul in front of crowd.
And men presented you with a crown.
And even a foe could recognize
That you’re the only king for us,
That you are the King!
Vivat, the King, Vivat!
Vivat, the King!
You did not know peace.
Without guns and shots, by making game,
You took the lands with ease.
But I was tamed by truth and just because
I knew you were yourself.
It wasn’t a tricky game or empty words-
The love of yours.
Vivat, the King, Vivat! Vivat, the King!
Vivat, the King, Vivat! Vivat, the King!
I knew, you were, you were yourself!
Vivat, the King, Vivat! Vivat, the King!
Vivat, the King, Vivat! Vivat, the King!
Vivat, Vivat, my love! - I say.
You shared them with only me-
Sorrow and trouble.
You always gave it other men -
The gold of the triumph.
It was your play. It was your game.
And then your benefit came.
It was your play. You was the King.
But now you must leave the scene,
You leave the scene.
Goodbye, the King, goodbye. Goodbye, the King!
This singing is all around.
It’s sad - the thunder ends, the thunder ends,
The thunder of applause.
There’s sadness in the eyes
And a pain in hearts.
And everybody cries.
Goodbye, the King, goodbye. Goodbye, the King.
It’s your last dance.
Goodbye, the King, goodbye. Goodbye, the King!
Goodbye’ the King, goodbye. Goodbye, the King!
You’re ending game and saying “bye“.
Goodbye, the King, goodbye. Goodbye, the King!
Goodbye, the King, goodbye. Goodbye, the King!
Today, today you are only mine.
Goodbye, the King, goodbye. Goodbye, the King!
Goodbye, the King, goodbye. Goodbye, the King!
Don’t cry, my dear, don’t be sad!
Goodbye, the King, goodbye! Goodbye, the King!
Goodbye, the King, goodbye! Goodbye, the King!
They say goodbye. I don't say!

@snilf I looked on the Internet - this is a group from Croatia - they sing the Iron Maiden repertoire (heavy metal) ...
What is the perfect song? : beautiful melody + deep lyrics + excellent vocal skills ...
Each person’s sense of beauty can drift on a scale both to the right and to the left ... an intelligent person knows (understanding comes with age) that it is VERY beneficial for us to move towards God (health, joy, meaning, happiness, realization, peace for all) ...
In our youth, almost all of us are stupid - no experience ... puberty, rebellion, hormones, bad company ... - as a result, we lose valuable time and often listen to things that harm us ...
I don’t know how to make a child fall in love with, for example, classical music and get a huge advantage on the path of life ... the bulk of people will lose time and harm themselves (then they will bite their elbows) ... Probably you need to at least know this in advance and make attempts!

Thank you, serjio! Seriously.
Here's another from the Slavic world (sort of!):

"an ignoramus will take a pearl for an ordinary cobblestone"
...Or he might call pleasure Satanism like you did. What nonsense.
|
|
|
an ignoramus will take a pearl for an ordinary cobblestone
|
What are you selling Sejio? More importantly, what are you smoking? Pleasure is Satanism?
|
|
Are you talking about love..? Love is God.
Carefully ! - satanism (pleasure seeking) - an unadvertised religion of the consumer society ... People often do not know the difference (especially young ones) ... Satan's constant occupation is to convince others that he does not exist ...
If a person was brought up by a wolf pack (Mowgli) - a good comparison with a person from a consumer society - there is almost no chance of moving in the right direction .., there are no examples around, no information, but there is extreme pressure from Satan through other people. It will take a lot to do quite the opposite - to swim against the current ...
In this video, the monk sings in Christ's native language.

@cd318 Yeah, I got to agree that Alfie is a strong contender for Best Song Ever Written.
On top of everything else those must be Hal David's best lyrics.
-----
As sure as I believe there's a heaven above, Alfie
I know there's something much more
Something even non-believers can believe in
I believe in love, Alfie
Without true love we just exist, Alfie

The Byrds - Draft Morning

It changes all the time. I saw an early reply where a member said 'Wichita Lineman'. Good choice IMO. Right now for me, Bowie 'Sound and Vision'. Talking Heads 'Artists Only'.

Lucinda Williams' voice is somewhat reminiscent of Roxette

Shouldn't she have this?
Shouldn't we all?

The Spinners - Could It Be I’m Falling In Love
Certainly not the greatest song of all time, but all parts of it are beautiful, bring out both happy and sad emotions, has an amazing bridge, perfect pace, vast and incredible choice of instruments, great beat, heartfelt lyrics.
I only listen to it every once in awhile but I’m ALWAYS blown away by it.

Elton John: Rocket Man, Daniel
Led Zeppelin. Dancing Days
Tool: Lateralus(album)
Pink Floyd: welcome to the machine. Several others
George Michael: Father Figure
Whitney Houston: I will always love you
Led Zeppelin: Dancing Days
Prince: Cream
Beatles: Penny Lane
Doors: Riders on the Storm
Bread: If
The Fixx: Saved by Zero
Mac Miller: Return of the Mac
I like others love music. I get goosebumps, I get excited, wishing somebody was there when I find a new great song. We are all wishing we could make a long list. Once I got my system set up it was like OMG it's like hearing songs all over. So much more in the music! Especially when I used to listen to these on a transistor radio, or on a worn out turn table.
