End Game Turntable suggestions
An uncommon brand with a great lineage is Nottingham Analogue. Their Dais design was one of the last by the late great Tom Fletcher. Best to buy from the UK. Price without tax is in your range. I have the predecessor Mentor with a custom plinth a...
life span/failure rate of filter capacitors?
Not all electrolytic caps are created equal. Some have high temperature ratings (good), higher mtf (good), higher ripple current (good), higher esr (bad). Thing is, each one of these parameters can be important, so try to find out everything you c...
I have an idea for an audio product what should I do?
It’s everyone’s dream, but most people’s downfall. Don’t spend anything that you can’t afford to lose. And make sure that your wife is onboard before you spend a dime. Take a week to read about how other inventors are doing before you jump in. Ju...
Songs of debauchery and excess
In my youth, very many of the songs were really about sex. 'The preferred accessory for 'dancing' was not a dance floor, but a bed.
Cartridge setup experts: Azimuth critique
@ketchup  IMO you're way ahead of many of the posters here. First, you recognize that lighting is a factor, and that it's tricky. Second, you realize that perpendicularity is a matter of degree in the real world. Third, you know enough to ask for ...

Best Amps for Magneplanar 1.7i Speakers
Whenever I’ve had Magnepan, I’ve ended up with Bryston. Very easy to listen to, very clear, family business, 20 year warrantee, best customer service in the industry. Sane prices. Perfect for HT. What’s not to like?

My 4 Class A monoblocks use about 1/2 kW total, which heats the room nicely for most of the year, for less than a dollar a day. Not ideally green, perhaps, but then I don't drive a pickup truck or commute 30 miles either.
Building a house
@dodgealum  Just saw your post. Hope this is not too late. I did an old world solution for my home theatre: sand. I put mixed fine and coarse sand into the spaces between joists, about 2". That is: at the framing stage, double or triple all jois...
Grado Epoch 3
Thank you! Just exploring possibilities so far.
Grado Epoch 3
Thank you for your review. You don't mention tracking. Anything to say about that?  Also, I was wondering if you could compare it to a Koetsu. Thanks!
Question About Capacitor Upgrade in Tube Amp
@ieales   Absolutely. Total agreement here. LC - LC forever!
Question About Capacitor Upgrade in Tube Amp
@ieales Agreed that those properties have not been mentioned. But which of them do you consider more important than DA? You seem to have left that thought unfinished. You say, "OH, yes they should." But my reading of the OP is that the question...
